I'm pretty surprised at the variances. I'm trying to hit the 30mpg mark, but it seems like I should be doing, more freeway miles.

I am at 28.1 on my display for now. My last fuelly fuel up was 26mpg which matched my display at that time. Once its fully broken in and I can drive like a normal person again I think I will be able to average a bit higher while still having a bit of fun.

Around 2700 miles total on my 6MT.
Car readout shows 32.3 avg.

Tracking with the car maintenance reminder app all 9 of my fill ups range from 29.8 to 32.4 with an overall average of 30.8

Looks like my factory average is slightly optimistic.

The longest I went before filling was 371 highway miles and it took 11.48 gallons.

Still on the factory oil fill! I expect a little better after the first oil change.

27.8 mpg on my first tank
27.6 mpg on my second tank (a good mix of highway and city, although in Northern VA about half the time the highway is bumper to bumper stop and go. I'm looking forward to an open road highway trek to see what I can get out of it. It's +9mpg over my M3, so I'm enjoying that!)

I'm getting the same as you. It is all driving style. Some of the local guys are getting around 30. However one of them was in my car the other day while driving. We were cruising around 35 and I asked him what gear he would have been in at that speed. He would be in sixth by then, while I cruise in third. That being said I think we flog it about the same so it's the cruising in lower gears thats killing me.

Nice on the company gas card.

yes! this is true! in a manual, the sooner you get into "overdrive"
the better your gas mileage will be! that said, ideally, the "smart play"
is to slip it into 6th gear as quickly as your engine speed will allow you to,
WITHOUT lugging the engine! "generally" if you can keep your "speed" at around
38 to 40 or above in 6th gear, (overdrive),you will experience a definite increase
in over all (m.p.g.) once again, WITHOUT lugging the engine!

Perhaps I should start shifting when the shift indicator is telling me to upshift..

9,493 miles in with an average of 33.53MPG. This is real mileage, not what the computer shows, which tends to be 1-2MPG higher.

FYI, I've used 283 gallons of gas with an average price of $3.82
