What the wife doesn't know won't hurt her!

Taupo sounds great although Hamptons or Manfeild with a track day might be better. Taupo doesn't seem to have any trackdays on their calendar.

Then again a nice overnighter in Taupo would be a nice wee trip for all of us.

You know I love it!! I am a sucker for TRD stuff!
How do you find the coilovers?? I ahven't fitted mine yet :P
You will find a bit more road noise, so don't fret about it
I was lucky enough to see a TRD 86 in Japan, the exhaust sounded fantastic!!!
So jealous!!

Is anyone selling them in the states and how much do they go for?

TRD Japan RRP: 820,000 yen = $9951 USD = $9648 AUD = $12141 NZD

North Shore Toyota (primo NZ dealer for TRD) price = $15237.44 NZD

On top of that they pay like $20,000+ USD more than an FR-S for the base 86.. ouch.

Yes, Carson Toyota, a dealership in Los Angeles and a sponsored vendor of this forum can get TRD Japan stuff for the folks in US.. but the price is higher than AUD or NZD.. I would imagine it has to do with weak US dollar, higher shipping cost, custom fees, etc etc..

For example, the Big Brake Kit is $11239 USD!!

Wish they had more TRD options in Canada. Our TRD exhaust looks nothing like JDM or yours. You would also be hard pressed to find any other TRD options. Would be awesome to be able to get the Toyota headlights and fog lights too. The Scion has projector lamps (non-HID) and without LED strips, and plastic mesh where the fogs should be, and no spoiler option yet unless you go to Five Axis or the like.

TBH I don't understand the hype with 5 axis.. their wheels are super heavy.. im not going to comment on their kit because styling is a subjective thing. Is it because Scion partnered up with 5 axis years ago to build some show cars that hyped up the brand?

Remember not all ecomonies and currencies are the same. We are not in USA and even though your dollar has tanked it I still worth more than ours.

To put it in perspective, a base 86 here is US$35k for a start. The GT86 is US$40k and the TRD GT86 is US$57k. Then the extra parts on top means about US$63k!!!

For some comparisons to car prices here a base corolla is US$28k while a Miata (MX5 here) is US$42k for the soft top and US$45k for the hard top.

So yes, I paid US$22k more than a Miata! I could have bought MANY different vehicles for my money and a lot cheaper parts than the TRD but my Nissan S15 I kept for 12years from new and that's my intention for the TRD GT86 as well.

So spend a lot now so I will enjoy her going forward as will be a long time before I get another new car (according to the wife!).

That could be why. Not sure. I prefer Volk, Work, or TSW with respect to wheels. If I was to go to a full body kit, TRD rocks, but, my current thinking is just a spoiler - ironically there are no dealer options for that either (unless you go to a Subaru dealer to add one (and there again I am stuck because they don't sell the red BRZ in Canada)).

Can you import the TRD parts from Japan or from here in NZ? I can PM you some suppliers if you want

What are your thoughts on the steering/handling compared to stock? How do you rate?
