Let me bring to the attention that nobody has mentioned yet.
I dont know how effective this will be on a Subaru engine. But the car I had before I traded in for the BRZ was an Acura TSX. I replaced the Intake Manifold Gasket with a Hondata IMG and also replaced the stock Injector gasket with a thicker one from P2R. Their effect was to reduce the heat temperature transferring from the Engine block to the Intake Manifold, a cooler Intake Manifold = more HP/TQ. To me, I did not notice any butt dyno gains but I was able to touch the Intake Manifold after a 3 hour drive without burning my hands. When I had the stock ones I could never touch it after a 30 minute drive or else I will burn my hands. Obviously that speaks for itself, and it was the best $50 I ever spent on that car. Other people have reported a 3-5hp gain, dont expect any magic that you will start to feel a big increase in power but for that price you cant deny the fact that it decreases your IM temp by a good 30 degree celcius which does help out. http://hondata.com/heatshieldgasket.html PS I really dont think anyone has made one for our engines yet huh?

I have the injen intake and sometimes at idle the rpms will dip. And three occasions it has stalled. My perrin pulley from xtr will be here soon. Also working on an exhaust. Hopefully an e85 chip tune will bring some better tuning.

I have that problem everytime I reset my ECU. But once it learns the intake it is fine and no problems afterwards. How many miles have you driven with it on your car?

I'm no expert bit my butt says that am intake manifold is a better investment than a pre tb intake. Also +1 for cams... I'd love to see an f20c imitator...
expensive as hell and a royal pain but way cool. Would be awesome to have uel noise at 8500rpm... 8-0

I would be very interested to know what the timing runs on a direct injected motor. More timing is usually only needed for a motor with a non optimal combustion chamber design. You need to set off the fuel/air mixture sooner to insure that it burns as completely as possible. I wonder how the direct injector fires in relation to the spark plug on these motors. I would think that the injector doesn't introduce fuel until the piston has almost completely the compressed the air in the cylinder, much lke a diesel. I'm no direct injection guru, but I would think the timing requirements are a little different.

I've always consider aftermarket intake manifolds for Subarus a wash. They're generally rather expensive (see Cosworth) and more prone to heat-soaking than the stock polymer manifold. In addition, you'll really only see gains at the top end; I'd only consider an intake manifold if I was doing something like cams.
