Yeah, that's why I posted it as a good comparison.

I just thought ~150kw in 2300lbs-2400lbs? would be quicker?

Not sure who is coming up with these figures either?

I'm just wondering why on earth they decided a sports car had a back seat. Every fun car I've ever driven was a 2-seater, the only exceptions were modified cars.

Wikipedia says the RSX was 2790 lbs.

Which makes me wonder even more how 150kw in 2300lbs-2400lbs = 7sec 0-60mph?

I'm not too interested in zero to sixty, and, for that matter, I'm not too interested in the quarter mile. In fact, I'm not even interested in top speed.

I'm interested in how the whole package comes together to make a sports car that is fun to drive.

Keep wondering about 7 secs.

Or 6 secs.

Or 5 secs.

Or just buy a Mustang.

The 2011 miata MX-5 does 0-60 in 8 seconds, but last I checked it was a lot of fun to drive. Maybe I'm just looking for a different type of car than the high school kids street racing their friends mustangs?

Yeah, I agree with you! The MX5 works extremely well with what it's got.

We actually got a locally developed turbo edition of the MX5 (MX5 SP) here in Australia a few years ago, now that car was fun car to drive! The extra power (150kW 280Nm vs 94kW/168Nm.) made everything better!

I think even after the success of that car, Mazda Japan came out with their own turbo edition.

When they first announced the ft86 I was hoping it would be more like the Mk1 MR2: lightweight, mid engine, great n/a engine. It was slow in a straight line, but sooooo fun in the curves.

The Miata is awesome fun for mature individuals not blinded by emotionally charged competitive comparisons. My primary wish for the FT-86 is that it approaches the same level of man-machine oneness as the Miata.

haha

Says the guy driving a Lotus Exige S. If all you were looking for was "man-machine oneness" you sure did overspend on that Exige. A Miata would've saved you quite a bit of coin, no?

Nothing wrong with an exige S, I got to ride in one it's like a go-kart that has jet packs hooked up to the back.

I agree, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Exige S at all. I love those cars, but with all this "I don't care how fast the Miata/FRS is" talk going around, it kinda makes me laugh to see what some of the people saying that are driving.

If all I wanted was a car that was fun at taking corners I would get a Go Kart. Just because the FRS is going to handle well doesn't excuse it from acceleration. Losing to a Prius in a straight line is unacceptable. lol

Honestly, 7.5 seconds is not that bad. RWD with a good Torsen LSD and solid 6spd manual are things you cannot just "bolt-on". A few mods will take the car into the mid 5 second 0-60 easily. I think people are being a little TOO critical of what the car is supposed to be.
