Stability mainly, there will always be a need for medical personnel. Not as hard hit by economic downturn as most other fields. Good money if you specialize correctly. Just a few reasons.

However, the medical field has seen a sharp decline in the hiring that goes on. My ex just graduated and the hospital she got hired on at only hired 43 right out of college when last year it was around 150+. I guess it also depends on the location as bigger hospitals can hire more but this is in Asheville which is not a small/poor area.

Wow, it looks like I've got a title I don't especially want.

I'm 75.

I retired from the auto insurance claims business 20 years ago.

there's certain aspects of the medical field that they already outsource. radiology for one. instead of having in house radiologist read, they're having the images digitally sent overseas to have them read.

They're trying to outsource surgeons too. They already have technology where you can remotely control a robot to do surgery and now they're trying to work out a way to use optic fiber cables to do long distance surgery, thousands of miles away. But this type of reality is far from now.

Best jobs in medical field that won't be outsourced would be anything that directly deals with patients.

The concept of the Remote surgery is not to outsource. the idea is when there is a rare or complex issue that requires a specialist, instead of flying the specialist in or the patient out, they can work on the patient abroad.

Another thing they can't outsource is fixing the equipment, they can contract it out but they still need to be local.
