Went for the portable approach like the gents above... 8 Inch downfiring box with top mount amp.. Strapped the box using belts to leave no scars.

Ya mine has Velcro straps that I looped through the holes in the frame up top. Absolutely 0 permanent fixtures other than wires. Mine won't slide forward but it can easily be unstrapped and taken out.

On a technical note; just started having a problem with the sub a few days later. It pops and then rumbles with the engine completely disregarding what's fed through the RCA's. At one point I turned the car off and back on and it worked again but came back. Not sure what the issue could be.

Only thing about the install I'm questioning is the brown wire from the harness for remote wire and possibly my ground. The ground I just screwed into a trunk bolt near where the wires come up. Not sure if that would cause it or not that's how I've always done ground on other cars. Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: remote gain wire fml

I'm still not clear on which is the remote/ACC switch wire.

I tried "B" on the picture below, but it's not working. Can someone point to the remote/ACC switch wire? Thank you.

I don't know why everyone calls that wire brown. Either I'm color blind or everyone else is.

It looks brown to me, so it might be just you.

How did you guys run the RCA cables from the head unit? Mine are relatively thick and don't want to just fit under the trim. Once the trim is removed I see another white piece of plastic but don't know if (or how) that needs to come out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Easiest to run them up the center of the car to be honest.

Q: Why are people using the brown wire on the HU as remote/accessory instead of tapping into the green wire running into the rear factory amp?

(I'm a car audio newb, please bear with me if this is a stupid question)

That white piece can be easily removed by pulling up on it. Check out this vid to see how easy it is to remove the interior pieces:

Nice - thanks! The clips were the key - I didn't notice they were holding it down.

Infinity BassLink in the trunk (decided to go with this to save space with the amp & sub in a small package) & a Pioneer AppRadio2 HU. I mainly followed what everyone on here has been saying for the install - ran the power wire from the + terminal of the battery through the large grommet located on the passenger side behind the battery.

I ended up running the + wire down the passenger side of the car right up against the inside of the center console and the RCA cables and amp turn on lead up against the inside of the center console on the driver side. Picked up GND on one of the bolts holding the amplifier down to the sheet metal in the trunk.

It's tough to tell from the blurry picture but I drilled a very tiny hole in the Metra 95-8202 dash kit (bottom left) to install a switch to "toggle the parking brake on/off" - I figured that was more robust than a parking brake bypass in case Pioneer decides to release a firmware update. I also had to use the dremel to get the 95-8202 to fit against the existing radio brackets on the FR-S but it wasn't too bad.

The Metra 70-1761 Radio Wiring Harness was a perfect match so no problems there. I also picked up the Scosche LSAAB Antenna Adapter for the AM/FM radio.

Still haven't found which speakers I plan on using so I have not swapped anything else out yet...If anyone has any recommendations for an "easy drop in" for speakers that'd be cool.
