UEL + SRT/Nameless Headerbacks, thoughts?
Been doing tons of research and planning out the mods I want to do on my car when I receive it. Initially, I'll be going intake, headers, headerback exhaust and of course, a tune to go along with that.
I'm looking for opinions on setups that revolve around a good sound and good performance. I like loud but a refined loud without that raspy sound like something is rattling around the inside of a coffee can. Would you guys suggest running a resonator behind the cat? (Still throwing around the idea of catted header vs uncatted but I want the flow) I figure the hemholtz with the cat should be tame enough on a Nameless system that's still really loud when you punch it. Just looking for some opinions for N/A at this time. Would be interested in seeing if 2.5" would be sufficient for a small turbo in the future, nothing too big. Just trying to plan things out.

Nameless hands down. Zero drone, ZERO raspiness, ZERO obnoxiously loud, nice deep tone.

Change your header last. The only header I would recommend is made by Supersprint. It's pricey. Also there are some really nice ones being made. Check out the JDL thread under the engine/exhaust/ecu subforum. What is your price-range?

I thought about doing the same setup. I was going with a Nameless headerback with a borla header but I think I'm just going to wait for the Nameless headers. Those guys do alot of homework and their parts should work awesome together. It probably won't sound as good though... I'm still kind of torn.

I wanted to do the Borla header but I'm passing on it. I like Namless product too. You can't beat the price for the quality. I'm just a bit hesitant as I haven't seen them on here in quite some time. As a business they will always be around. I'm just trying to get an idea of where the BRZ is on their priority list.

Anywhere from 600-1000 on a header would be great. I know the Supersprint parts are extremely expensive for the italian metal. I'll check the JDL thread some more. I know headers are still going through a lot of R&D currently so I may hold onto the stock one for a bit before jumping the gun. I just want a smooth transition into a header from an SRT/Nameless system. I know Nameless is working on a header too.... that will be very interesting. I've heard some of the videos of their test one and it's great.

Are you going to keep the same exhaust when you go turbo? I hear the exhausts lose alot of sound/volume with a turbo. I've been wondering whether I should go un-resonated for that reason.

Nameless was turned off by some forum "stuff" regarding ways they could or could not pay their sponsored membership, but they are still actively developing for our cars, just don't post it here. Quote:

Yeah, I've made the decision to go with the MXP exhaust. Adam at No Limit Motorsport hooked it up. I'm getting one of the 5 coming in as he sold out of the system. Next batch after these 5 could be a few months.

Nameless I have not seen one complaint about. I'll be going with their full headerback system most likely and I love the sound of it. They proved the numbers and did lots of research on their product. Not saying that other companies did not do this, but they are passionate about what they work on and you can tell.

I vote SRT. It makes good power, looks great under/behind the car, and sounds great; even if slightly loud for some people. It's also a great design for F/I... very little restriction or bends.
The only problem I have with exhausts for this car is the 15 second startup obnoxiousness. I haven't heard a single exhaust that doesn't have it, except maybe Perrin resonated, but that's pretty much stock LOL. |

$865 shipped. I also order the Motiv Concepts HFC Front Pipe. $335 shipped.
The Motiv concepts HFC Front Pipe makes the stock exhaust sound like it should just in case anyone wanted to save money in the meantime. I almost debated just the front pipe and custom tips for the OEM exhaust.
