I selected "Do the other just like that" but what i would have really said was buy some Firestorm paint matched touchup paint to do it with. That's my plan at some point.

Whenever I would screw up and get paint outside the indentations in the emblem, I would take a cotton swab and very lightly brush the edges until the fresh paint rubbed out. The key is not to press too hard, because if you do, you'll get the swab inside the indentation itself, removing the paint you wanna keep. If you screw up big, just dip the swab in some paint thinner and rub away lightly.
oh word id be more worried bout the cars paint being affected

That would be ideal, but I had already purchased enamel to paint my shift knob with, since I needed something designed to take abuse from constant rubbing. Enamel was recommended to me, since it's what's used to paint many toys.

Is the JDM emblem actually firestorm red?

I surrounded the emblem with painter's tape too, wasn't going to risk that. Also, if you plan to do this. Have some sense and pull up a chair. Don't try to do this bending over or squatting. :P

Not really sure but the photos I've seen it does seem to match. If it's not, that would bother me more than the standard us Emblem on a Firestorm.

Found a good pic. It does seem slightly brighter.

I used the same setup as I did for my shift knob. Tiniest brush I could find, and Testors enamel. Here's the shot you asked for. I got as far as I could while still noticing the painted look.

what is the red pen thing? that might be the missing link to my success lmao

That is the brush. Try a 000 or 0000 sized brush. I use my 0000 all the time for itty bitty work and minor pinstriping fixes.

Also, try to use painter's tape around the emblem itself, maybe even double width. No one worries about paint on the tape and you don't have to be that exact if you have the 'shakes'. I use blue paper towels folded into little points to remove paint that I don't want in addition to q-tips, they have less 'lint' to get into fresh paint.

@Derik210

It's a sharpie pen. It didn't work. Rubbed off easily. I didn't use it. The red pinpoint brush is what I ended up using.
