But sometimes you realize things just aren't working and you've drifted apart more than you'd like to admit.

Just got back home on Sunday from Asheville, NC and happy as hell with my gas mileage. Managed 42-44 MPG both ways

3 months? That's gonna be quite the adventure you'll be having. And like most said, girls would be the best option to take care of your belongings. Unless your best friend or family member, regardless of gender, is very responsible. I'd most likely choose a family member if I was in your position.

And you can cover the old bolts, but I think you have to add 1 or 2 more holes for the Five AD spoiler.
