What's the process of doing this? My car is due to be in, in a few weeks, and I'd like to set up my loan with Penfed... any suggestions? This is my first loan on my own. (I have a high credit score anyways).

Thank you for suggesting PenFed! They are awesome people with 1.49% for 60 months, great find! You can pay off whole lot faster.

Just sign up for an account online and apply for the loan. I believe there is a max of 10% over MSRP to help cover taxes, etc. They'll then send you a check made out to the dealer.

I believe they have a minimum requirement of $500 or less for your insurance deductible (maybe collision).

They also offer Gap Insurance for $349.

If you run into any issues with the application give them a call.

Is it just for those in the military or can anyone get a loan with them?

Anyone can join. If you don't belong to one of the qualified groups you can become a member of one of two associations for $15 or $20...then you're eligible.

Maybe this is just me being ignorant of the world outside of my own country, but I could just look at a globe and tell you that things are going to be more expensive in Australia. I mean, you guys are in the middle of nowhere like crazy.
