demographics.

Small place with no demand. Same thing here, I bought mine right off the dealer lot from Toyota and there was also an unsold BRZ at the subaru dealer. Right now there is still a FR-S unsold at the dealer.

Why are they not selling? Very simple

-#1 reason is probably price markup
-Im sure not a lot of people know them
-People get disappointed as soon as they see the HP/TQ numbers
-People dont understand the purpose of this car because all they care about is how fast it can go(Typical American)

On the other hand the same dealerships, of which one is a Subie and the other Toyota can't seem to hold onto any other type of sports car they get in. Mini Cooper S, 350 and 370z's, Challengers, Camaros, all seem to fly off the lot, they can't even keep WRX's in stock and STi's are pretty much pre-order only.

This got me to wondering, because I was thinking of trading in my 04 M3 for one. What gives? I figured I'd be seeing a ton of them on the streets by now. Is there something wrong with them that no one talks about?

As for why they aren't selling, for one it's a RWD sports car being sold at a dealership that has AWD in every other one of their models, or for Scion the rest are FWD and more manageable in the winter. No one would buy a RWD sports car in the north right before winter, most either got them over the summer, or they are waiting until the spring.
some will still buy,as the latest build dates (september onward) have them shorn with "all-seasons" rubber. keeps 'em from springin' for dedicated snows!

paper mills was really "cookin' at that time, however got the impression the place was kinda f**ked,in that it was a"low income" area,at least where we was,(edmonston,nb.) wasn't a whole hell of a lot there!.tons of pine trees, and flat like a prairie.

My local dealerships here in Rochester have a total of 4 or 5 in stock right now, one of them used, no markups and Van Bortel actually sells them under MSRP per the dealership's overall philosophy. I test drove the used one over the weekend and pending one other very much cheaper alternative (friend giving me his car and me fixing the body damage), I'll be buying one in spring/summer 2013. I can see why people say it's under powered, but I think it's exactly the type of car for me: small, lightweight, nimble, and just enough frills.

It's possible that the rumors of the Scion has the Convertible and the Subaru's STI BRZ might hold people off but more so the winter. I know when I got mine the dealerships could only hold 4 total (Scion). Honestly it's kind of nice as well bc it is still turning heads!

Because winter. People have the misconception that RWD + snow = death and dismemberment. We sold out our initial allocation of 6 units and have been sitting on the extra two we received for at least a month now. Makes me feel bad for all the people waiting for them in other parts of the country/world. Oh well, gives me something to stare at while I save up money for my own! Got one parked right in front of my desk, how is that?
