I have already sent him close to 4 links to your videos. Hes watched the 20 min video of you applying it on the DGM. Seeing that paint at the end, is what made my decision, and i think i may have saw a tear of joy roll down the cheek of my detailer. I almost contacted you about shipping my car down to you in a haul behind trailer, but the time i'd need for that isnt easy to come by these days.

What are these high spots you speak of? My guy has been detailing and paint correcting since high school (15 years), but has zero experience with OC or OG. Any helpful tips for him would be appreciated.

Have him read this review/watch this video for an application guide. There are a couple pics of 'high spots' that will give you and your detailer an idea of what to look for:

I went through the same issue, and when I eventually DID find an excellent opti-coat installer he couldn't book me until August. It's a shame too because he was going to charge me just $250, and this is a guy that has a detailing school and does work for BMW, so highly experienced. Since I couldn't do the wait without some added protection, I ended up going with a similar product from Wolf's Chemical called Hard Body. I've found that as long as you take your time, read the directions and use a little common sense, you can do many of these things yourself. Yes time is money and this is why the installers ask for so much money, however $600 is a little steep. Since the FRS/BRZ are relatively small cars, they don't take much time to do. You'll spend the bulk of your time doing prep work, polishing, etc.

end result:

does have a few swirls here and there, but they are visible only in certain lighting conditions. Swirls are inevitable anyway if this is your daily driver. I'm sure i'll have to re-apply the sealant next year or so.

This car isnt my daily driver. It sits in the garage id say 90% of each day. It really only gets pulled out to wash it or on date nights/free days. I am the type of guy that sees the little flaws in everything. So if i make a mistake ill know its there and probably ruin my paint trying to fix it.

I hear you. I'm a little OCD as well, so i completely understand. Since it's not your daily, then I guess it won't hurt to spend a little cash to keep your baby purdy I hope it works out for you with the Opti-Coat.

You should check out detailer's domain in NJ. I just got mine done over the weekend and I'm loving the look.

Yeah, I got it done shortly after I posted this thread. Im in Indiana, so i found a guy that was willing to apply the opti. I dont see the big deal on applying the stuff. Its basiclly find someone that does good prep work. If they can buff n prep the paint properly, then they should be able to apply the opti properly no problem.

Looks great. Pm me if you want a good price but its in indiana

Glad to hear you found someone in your area

Anyone else who's searching around locally, best bet is to search the map of authorized installers by your zip and go from there
