There are two types of BRZ owners, those that have scratched their bumper and those that are gonna scratch their bumper. I was extra careful for 5 months... until it happened to me so sad.

Agreed, the BRZ is not that low. You can get into most car washes with it EZ. That being said, if you're not scraping you're not driving!

I guess I will find out, but I had my 99 Integra lowered with Eibach Mild Lowering springs dropping it down 1.5in with 205/50/15s so it sat kinda low. Also had the ITR lip on there and never scraped. Makes me wonder how low the BRZ actually is as my test drive I did not have any troubles getting off the lot and it has a nasty dip. If I saw a driveway that was steep...parked on the street haha. I understand some have no choice (snow removal guys hated me) but I would cringe in my buddies Civic EG. That thing ate curbs and speed bumps.

None yet, but I'm sure its a matter of time. I was upset when I scraped my previous car's bumper the first few times, it was lowered. After that you kind of get over it... it's the underside of a bumper, no one cares :P

I scratched mine going up a driveway, it sucks!! lol... Good thing it's on the underside and it's not visible. I wonder how much worse it's going to be when I finally find a lip kit I like and put it on the car

I scrapped the middle of the car hitting way too much of an apex on a back road sliding into the turn. Didn't do much at all just a couple nicks in the metal. I've since not gotten as tail happy as I like to on that turn. It was a terrible sound to listen to.

I scraped mine while parking last week. Fortunately the clear bra ate up most of the scrape. I got quoted $100 to replace just that section of the clear bra and was advised to provide Dr. Colorchip just in case there was unseen damage. I used Dr. Colorchip on my DGM WRX before I sold it and it DOES work, but it's a minimum of $50 after all is said and done, so $150 to "repair" my scraped underside...

anyone who is lowering their car just be mindful, that the factory shocks and struts shouldnt be lowered more than an inch . plenty of suspension companies out that make us parts will tell you you can drop it but on stock struts and shocks, if you go lower than an inch it will eventually start to cause problems. sort of how it fucks up the 04-05 sti when you drop it on s techs. just giving yah some heads up dont want your new ride hurtin. if you want it dropped dumb far just go coil over.

I may have scraped my BNZ once, but if so then I blocked it out of memory. Speed bumps I take slow because for a stock car it's pretty stiff (STi flew over bumps like nothing). And I have learned NOT to quickly slow down for certain dips. Give it a lil gas instead so you're not dropping the nose. I've owned a 92 Integra and 05 WRX that were both lowered and really didn't have many issues there. Probably more scrapes on the Integra since I was way more paranoid about the WRX (at first anyway).
I'll be lowering this car eventually, but no more than an inch if that. But I'm surprised at some of the driveways I've gone into with no problems. I'm not a light dude, either. But...scrapes happen. That's why they make knock-off polyurethane lips. They're cheap and bounce back!

I scrape daily leaving/coming to my driveway. I can hit it at an angle and just about miss it but a lil bit always touches.
Before the lip/skirt I never scraped anywhere. Not once. I will need to make some form of adjustment to my driveway if I lower it in any way. Don't know if I would be able to keep the lip/skirt once lowered. Meh. Stock ride height with STi Front Lip and associated Skirt Lip. |

The first one always hurts the most. I've just grown to accept it. Since this is my daily driver, I just look at it like battle scars.

I guess it's inevitable. Even before it hit the dealer, it will get scraped getting in and out of the car transporter.
My car arrived last night via a transporter; it was on the upper track and I can see the light scrapes. 5 miles on the odo. Back in my NSX days, one of the fellow nsxers almost took out the whole front end hitting a gas station driveway hard. |
