True but the Hyundai also has a turbo engine as well as a 10/100k warranty that needs to be paid for with the price. GC is also substantially bigger in size as well as a turbo engine which adds to the weight. |

But you have to understand, Mr.Toyoda and Mr.Tada-san are very well aware of the Genesis (i'm sure, after all, it's competition) and they have to stand out, so pricing it lower will be a biggie, because (also) it will have LESS, and in this case where they want it to re-symbolize the AE86, it's also MORE for the obvious reasons, less things, less weight, less price. Capiche?

I don't see how a 2l NA would be $25k - That's on par with what the Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec cost - But then again that's a 2.0L Turbo engine pushing 220hp (premium fuel) with 6spd manual trans, brembo brakes and tuned suspension.
At least with the hyundai you'd almost have the potential to have better hp gains. The NA, although pushing some good power is sort of a kick in the nuts. I agree that they want this to bring back the fun of the AE86 and thus needs to be a 'cheaper' car than what's around - I agree with a good base model for $19-$20k (steelies, lower HP 190hp, base corolla suspension, corolla brakes) and the sport tuned one around $23k (lsd, brembo brakes, tuned suspension, more HP 200+) |

Subaru, if you're listening, I'll pay ~30,000$ for a well sorted turbo BRZ, but please reconsider the name. |

Just look at the mule. It doesn't take a whole lot of imagination to see what he was talking about. The mean-looking headlights and gaping mouth are pretty similar.

Road and Track said approx. 3,000 lbs., too.
At 3,000 libs., this thing is dead on arrival. What happened to the good old days when everyone was bandying about the figure of 2500 lbs. or less? |
