First time posting on thread!
Saw a listing for a Midnight Blue FR-S at Marin Scion on the 1st and sent in an inquiry. Got a call back later that day and they said the car wasn't spoken for (which the guy sounded perplexed) and that he would look into why. Called back again 15 minutes later and said the car was stuck at port with some starter issue and would not come in until/if fixed. Would call back....nothing yet. The Galaxy Blue Silica one at Maita Subaru has been there for over a week. I had been speaking with the internet manager for almost a month on getting a WRX, but to let me know if any BRZ came in stock. Finally got all my ducks in a row and went last Wednesday because I was quoted 25,600 and 28,000 for WRB WRX and the GBS. When I got there I was told the offers were no longer valid and was instead offered 26,600 (before tax/lisc.) and they were asking for 30k for the BRZ. I offered 28,200 and they still turned me down. Got a call from Fairfield Subaru on the 9th saying they had a silver BRZ in stock and were asking for 27k i believe. I called back around 7 and said I would be in first thing in the morning. Called at 9am and they said the car had been sold (OK, that one was my fault). Got a call from Toyota Vallejo last Friday saying there was a red FR-S in stock and if I was still interested because the person who was ahead of me on the wait list didn't want red. I said sure, I could always paint the car later, and said I would be there in 45 minutes or so (gotta wait for my ride). 10 minutes later got a callback, the person ahead of me changed there mind and was coming in. Would call me again if they backed out.6 Got an email yesterday from Toyota Concord saying a red AT and white MT FR-S were in stock and it's a "race for first come first serve." (Glad to know being #1 on the wait-list secures my spot -__-). Called them up and arranged to be there ASAP (live about 50 mins away). When I was 20 minutes out they called and said someone else came in and was filling out the paperwork. So not to bother coming in. Got a call yesterday from Vacaville Toyota because I saw they had a WHITEOUT FR-S in stock, but found out it was on hold for someone else. Manager said that they were having trouble getting a hold of him and if they didn't hear back from him by this morning they would call me. I called this morning and as of 9.30 they had not heard from him so I said I was on my way. Got there a little before 10 and they pointed out some guy sitting at a desk talking to a finance officer. Apparently this was the guy they had been trying to contact for 2 days, and he just HAPPENED to show up minutes before I arrived. Has anyone had this much problems trying to secure this car? I'm on a wait-list at 5 different dealerships for a FR-S and 1 for the BRZ. P.S. Now that I can finally post I can list any places I find. I'm kinda limited in how far out I can go to get one, so I'll just put up everything I find in the hopes you all don't run into the same problems I have. Good luck everyone! |

There is an Ultramarine A/T at Daly City Scion.
I also have info on a soon-to-be for sale Firestorm and Whiteout with NO port-installed accessories, not even wheel locks or the carpeted trunk mat. If interested you can PM me, but don't PM me if you're not willing to buy a car with the following terms: - Both are Manual Transmission - Both will be sold with Aftermarket Heatable Leather Seats |

Simply stated, yes, they are somewhat difficult to secure. I have been offered about three that I could've purchased, but were the wrong color. Supposedly I am on the wait list for about 5-6 dealerships, and have been into one dealership to work through possible wait times for the car I want. Called around this Saturday b/c I constantly scour autotrader and cars.com for new listings, and may have a real contact for the color and trans I am looking for. I will know by Monday, so I am told. I am looking well outside the Nor CA area, and am not looking for a BRZ. I didn't bother calling or really looking until I secured financing outside the dealership and didn't bother with CU financing until I researched my current credit scores, debt to income ratio, and liquidating a car from the stable. I was in the waitlist for the BRZ at capitol subaru for a couple of months. A friend of mine then told me that piercy toyota at milpitas has 2 frs in stock. A lot of people were lined up for it, but didnt really qualify coz the 2 were the five axis edition frs which cost a lot. Got the frs the day after i went, withdrew my reservation at capitol subaru and had my 500 refunded. Then a month later, my contact at capitol subaru emails me that they finally have a brz and is first come first serve. Yes, for this year the brz and frs are kinda hard to purchase, i dont know if it would still be the same next year. Hopefully they'll limit production, just like the supras.

Limited 6 MT DGM BRZ spotted at Diablo Mazda Subaru, must've been unloaded off the truck on Monday.
The dealership is awful and will probably sell it for a 5k markup. Be very wary. |

maybe the next time we have a meet & drive, we should have the whole group drive slowly past one of these dealerships that has a ridiculous markup. If we go at a good time on a weekend, I bet we can all pass by just as one of the sales guys tells a prospective buyer, "these are really rare cars, you won't see too many on the roads, that's why we are charging markup"...

No one should have to pay more than MSRP, period. If you can't find it in CA, there are plenty of FT86's at MSRP (FRS and BRZ) all over the country. |
