Yes you did. That's why you didn't drive off the lot with it. It seems like you are able to wait and being patient pays off.

With that said. I couldn't wait and I love my BRZ. Good for you for not impulsively buying it.

But really looking forward to the STI.

Did I do the right thing?

Well, who knows what the availability is going to be a year from now, but hopefully better. Subaru needs to ramp up their production big time! Not having a car payment would certainly be nice, so I can understand that decision. Just remember you only live once...

Let's see. I got mine as soon as I could. Do I think you did the right thing? No. When next years model comes out you will probably want to wait again because the following years model will have some improvements that won't be available next year. Then you could use the same excuse every year and never have the fun of owning one.

I didn't buy a lifetime investment. I bought a neat, fun little car. If it causes me too much heart burn I'll trade it in on something else or trade it in on the same thing only a year newer.

For me, the appeal of owning one of the first BRZs in the US was a big factor in purchasing the car. If you keep waiting for the next best thing, you will be waiting a LONG time. Also, I wouldn't expect too many changes for 2014, especially at the pace the 2013s have sold. If you can afford the STi and think the add-ons warrant the price, go for it. If you have the patience and don't need to have the car immediately, just wait and see what Subie has to offer. You may have made the right choice, time will tell.

Like buying a computer, sooner or later you just have to do it and don't look back. Or wait forever.

The unknown factors are (a) will SOA increase the price, (b) will there be more demand, (c) are there more power offerings and (d) if you're financing, will you still get 1.5% ?

I'd say (a) likely, (b) meh, (c) yes and (d) meh if the economy continues to be meh.

Im still holding off buying the first computer for my home. I was looking at a 486 back in '93 and the technology was changing so fast...so decided to wait by for the best time. Fast forward to todayand it's the Intel i7 but there will be something better if I hold out...getting closer...

I think it's a good choice. It doesn't sound like you need the car at the moment. If a revised edition does not come out, you can get the current model year at a used price. For myself, I am willing to wait for a revision or hopefully an STi version (even at $35k).

The wrx didn't change from 02 to 03 much... they just changed the tranny a bit. I suspect the BRZ will be the same. No big changes until 2014.

I totally understand not waiting forever. We only live once. At least i have a fun TL and RC51 to keep me busy. Here are my reasons
1. Credit in the hole due to underwater house means I can't get financing and need to buy with cash
2. Don't want bugs in my car
3. And I can wait for 1 more year to see if the STI is worth it
4. Have a family and an all wheel drive might be best to go to Lake Tahoe in the winter. So waiting to see if a WRX STI would be a better match.
My wife knows how much I want it. She sees me almost cry when we see one on the road.

I may do the same thing depending on a number of factors. Honestly, the longer I wait, the better it'll be for me, but if the dealership can work with me, I'll drive away with it.
