And that is why I like SCCA Autox, the chance of damaging my car is minimal. I am not knocking road racing or HPDE because if I could afford screwing up in a major way, then I would be a track rat. The worst autox incident I have ever had is ripping out my tire liner the second time I rammed a cone through a wheel wheel: it tore the liner out.

yep, that's the right attitude. If you can't afford to write your car off completely, you shouldn't be taking it on a proper race track. It is the responsibility of the driver, within reason.

I have to agree I take the Corvette out a lot on track days and I still baby it there to much cash to see it sliding threw a gravel trap or into a wall

I showed him on my car what causes that. Just a pop from sucking in so much air at once he said it sounded similar he is probably dumping the clutch when he shifts causing the noise. If you shift normally it won't happen but I can make mine pop
