Or maybe people will buy them because they prefer the power deliver of a positive displacement supercharger vs a turbine (either exhaust or belt driven). Just because other companies do a better job of keeping the community involved with the development process doesn't mean a kit can't be well developed without being live-blogged every step of the way. At the very least, that's more time they could be spending fine tuning the kit.

I think you're missing my point.

Look, I *want* this kit. I think a SC is a better match for this chassis than a turbocharger. And a PD blower is even better as it should increase torque across the whole band. But all this kit is so far, is a pretty picture and a couple dyno runs that don't even show any numbers.

Are we even sure it's BEING developed? Or are they waiting for someone with money to burn to buy one because it looks cool and develop it for them?

Here:

Guess how much this supercharger makes. And guess where you can get it. I'll give you a hint: Noone knows, and nowhere. But there's a pretty picture of it.

These threads go off-track because of a lack of information. If they don't want the thread to wander off into areas they might not like, they should post something to keep things on-track.

You would pay thousands of dollars for a power adder with no information about how much power it adds?

Believe me, when my warranty is up (or if I feel like voiding it), if there is solid data on this available, it will be on the top of my list. But, to reiterare (and emphasize a point you missed) *As it stands now* it's just an item of bling. If they want to sell these to people who want performance, they need to show how much performance it adds.

A subaru project that died on the vine after being "announced". Too often stuff like this is announced, shown at SEMA or something similar, and then quietly disappears. It'll become a legendary thing that pops up now and then in discussion. Someone will know of some guy who saw the car at some event and spoke to the owner. But there is no hard data to be found anywhere.

I hope that doesn't happen to this product, but it has all the earmarks of following a similar path.

Maybe the aftermarket industry is different, but I know the ramifications of announcing and marketing some products before they are generally available can cause SEVERE revenue recognition issues once the product is actually released. The process/problems may be quite similar:
  • R&D works in silent mode until the product is ready for beta (no marketing or sales info, period)
  • Once beta is underway, then general information about the product can be released but no specifics (acknowledge existence but no more, and especially no release dates)
  • When the product is less than 1 Quarter away from being released then more specific details can be discussed but with the caveat "final specifications can and will change"
  • When the cloak is lifted then all specifications are revealed
If any form of company sponsored advertisement discusses specific features of a product but the end released product differs from the previous advertisement, then there may be issues with customers that made the decision based on pre-release info.

I was surprised to see all of the activity in the other FI threads as they were in full advertisement mode well before anyone could actually buy it commercially. As far as this particular thread is concerned, Innovate Motorsports has posted updates over a dozen times in 3 weeks and I have to respect them for not trying to lead/mislead potential customers based on "beta" information that doesn't really portray the capabilities of the final product. Anyone who has been on these boards for more than a few months recall a certain aftermarket exhaust that had REAL problems in this "releasing info" area.

That's why I like the approach that Accelerated Performance took:

This is what we want to make
Here's us building it
Watch us develop it from mild to wild
Done, here's the details of the package.

Every customer knows exactly what they are getting and what they can expect from it.

Dude STFU you sound like whiny baby. You don't even have the balls to void your warranty, why do you even care or bothering to make trouble than?

Just because you don't have a manufacturer waiting on you hand and foot, to someone who isn't even going to buy it, because he is to much of a puss to void his warranty, does not mean that it isn't being developed or worked on. If I was Innovate I would black list you just because your a ****.

and i agree they should hav some numbers for us. but if the kit needs further refinement before they release numbers i'm okay with it. this is the way i want to go but with a different charger so i wanna see what this one is going to do before i pony-up for an R1320 and custom design and build my own manifold.

300whp with a PD charger would be nuts. But I'm dreaming here.
