Question for those who received emails from SOA. Did they email you whenever there was an update or did you have to email them first? IDK if i should keep bugging them or just wait quietly.

One rep agreed to email me every two weeks, even if there were no updates. She did, but I felt I got more info if I emailed them. In between one of those two-week periods, I ended up getting an ETA on the car. So it all depends on who's working with you on that end. Just stay courteous. I always got a response within a day.

I bugged SOA for the last two or three months with phone calls and emails. I'm fairly certain most of them know me. You can now take my spot.
I got an email on Veterans Day saying my car should be at the dealership in a week. It's the only update I have got from SOA. I don't think they mind people calling or emailing with inquiries. Some of them are very nice, and sympathetic to those of us anxiously waiting.

So yeah, keep bugging them!

SOA was worthless to me - every time I called them, they just contacted my dealer and had them call me...which did nothing since they didn't have any information either.

I ordered a WRB Limited on Sept 5th. Got my VIN and an ETA on Nov 1st. ETA is Dec 3rd. Pretty good considering they quoted me "about 12 weeks" when I placed the order, which is just about dead on if the ETA holds true. No updates from the dealer since I got the VIN though, I'll call them tomorrow to see if the ETA is still an ETA or a confirmed delivery date. I also told them not to touch it before I get there cuz I don't want some dealer punk "detailing" the thing.

Must have been an allocated car.

My dealer had an allocation of eight cars; I ordered on July 9 and was their tenth. Their ninth car - the first beyond their initial allocation - just got a VIN and ETA last week.

Yes it was. Dealer told me when as I was ordering that this was the 2nd to last one he had. He said after these he didn't expect to get any more until March 2013. That could have been a sales tactic or something, but it didn't matter, I was going to put the order in if it was his last order or he had 7 more...

Apparently Subaru decided to increase the 2013 build by 2500 cars; I think this happened in early October, so at the time your dealer was right. I don't know how they're parceling out the additionals, but my dealer says they're sure they'll get mine plus one more - beyond that, it's anyone's guess.

Yeah, toward the end of October is when I got the news we would receive more BRZ's in a new run. Most Subaru dealers are very honest. At least the ones in my area.

Almost 6 months in and I still don't have a VIN. If they are already handing out the ones from the second run does this mean I should start planning a trip to New England to grab one of the ones sitting on their lots?

Has anyone been able to send word up the SOA chain of command how annoying it is to sit at some unknown position on a list? Especially when some people roll the right combination of options to get a car quickly and others just wait. The dealer I'm working with has been very up front with the all of the information they have, but we're not getting much from SOA.

Sorry to vent, but this is even worse than waiting for the WRXs when they came out.

Dealer just called and said was shipped rail 11/13 and Is still scheduled to be delivered the 28th. What's that mean exactly and how long does it take to get I'm in Ohio.

I know your frustration. I waited seven months, and only got the VIN a week before the car showed up last week. Hang in there.

It means what it sounds like. The car was loaded up onto a train and was en route on 11/13, and should be delivered to your dealer on 11/28. It's traveling from one of the coasts (probably East Coast port) and is gonna take 2 weeks for the train to get to Ohio. I would call your dealer back and ask them if that means you can take it home on the 28th, and clarify with them if there's anything you want done or not done (washed/not washed, bumper drilled/not drilled, etc) before you take delivery.
