And if someone joins who really is in their 90s we'll give them special recognition for sure :happy0180:As for the interwebz, yeah I remember it as being '93 or '94 when it went public and all of a sudden instead of the command line there was mosaic, and archie and gopher gave way to lycos and webcrawler and soon after that came alta vista. Man that seems so long ago now. Oh right, and we were all starting to fret over the looming Y2K.

I gotta admit, a man building a garage like that, deserves a beer:happy0180:
My great grandfather had 6 bloodhounds. He named all of them Damn-it. "Come here Damn-it! Sit Damn-it!" I don't think they make men this manly anymore. Some of these stories remind me of my highschool auto shop days. Me and a couple friends were becoming known in the small group of teen tuners for being the guys who can install anything. Mostly we just enjoyed the work (and we're teen guys, we LOVED the recognition) so we'd do most work for free. One day a guy we didn't like all that much who drove a brand new mustang with what he bragged was some special paint you can only order online and cost $1K extra, asked us to change the face plate on his gauge cluster. He dropped the car off, said he'd be back to pick it up and we went to work. We finished with the gauges, but now we have his car, without any supervision...all to ourselves. We pull some plastic panels off from under the steering wheel to reveal a bunch of wires and relays. After figuring out what went where, we spliced into the brake lights, and connected wires to the horn. He came back, saw his nice new racey gauges and took off. Only a second later when he reaches the end of the street and hits the brakes to make a turn we hear "BEEEEEEEEP!"....."BEEEEP"....."BEEEEEEP"..BEEP... BEEP, then he turns the car around comes screaming at us "WHAT THE F*** DID YOU DO!!!" Haha, good times. |

I still have all of my toyotas and my family use the camrys and corolla. The toyotas are the best cars by far. My friends and family tell me that I am having a mid life crises at 54. Fantastic because that means I will live to 108. We need to find an 86yr old driving an 86. |

I'm 42. My wife will be 38 next month. We are self professed car junkies. The bargain that the FRS represents on top of the fun factor led us to this car over a CaymanS or Lotus Exige/Elise. Yes, we were really shopping those cars. Long story short. You aren't having a mid life crisis. You made a sound fiscal decision based on ROI and Performance. I hope this clears things up a bit, lol.

And shopping the Cayman and Lotuses isn't crazy at all - great little cars, all of them, if a little on the pricey/impractical side. Whaap went through the same thought process; he had really wanted a Cayman for quite a while, then along came the twins and he has no regrets. I think his story is on page 1 of this thread

I got a whole car for what would have been a down payment on a Porsche! What a great deal! (pat myself on the back, as you should too!) Yes, no doubt, the Porsches are much nicer cars. And they are a lot faster. But, I don't think they are 'funner'.
