It snowed in ny last week and let me say it was dam fun lol
but on a serious note, the traction control on normal does a very good job of keeping your ass composed rather than in a utility pole lol |

With the right tires you can get around in most cars. I know this is very much an opinionated statement. |

I've gotten stuck when I stopped at a red light in a RWD car with traction control, all season tires, slick roads, but a 1% grade. Light turned green my back end went side to side. Front never moved. Cars drove around me. Embarrassing!
I can't imagine the poor traction with summer tires. Even if there's no snow, the low temps turn the rubber hard and give you very little traction. In a 4 season state, a set of snow tires on this car would be very wise. And instead of being super careful, you might be near unstoppable. (I dunno, but people have claimed so in other RWD cars with snow tires.) |

Ok my new report is I'm getting snow tires.
Got downtown and it snowed 3/5 inches or so. Had to get home, so I just went for it. I got a little slippery on the freeway and don't want to play that game again. I will either buy a snow vehicle now or tires. Probably tires would be enough. |

This is why you dont run summer tires in snow. I've been silently laughing to myself at these people posting about how they made it through snow on stock summer tire. I bet you this person was like "If you are careful you can do it no problem I've been doing it for years". That pic looks like an inch of light snow.
Why risk it? |

One question I have is if it is dry outside and just cold will the hard summer rubber also make driving a risk?? |

You could take it a step further and laugh about driving a rwd light weight coupe in snow too. I have driven around safer on "summer tires" than half of the trucks and other cars I have seen around. Being able to judge the conditions is more important. With snow tires the red car could have had the exact same accident depending on the driver. Also these aren't that aggressive of a summer tire.
Ok less talk and more snow pictures. |

Yes I'm sure on snow tires he would have driven into a side rail going 10 mph in 1 inch of snow. lol
