Now that i think about it what they are saying could be true the dont have a performance sedan in scion so if they were to make one after the hopefully NUMBER ONE SELLING CAR in there line up it would make sense

The extra hp would be for the extra weight added

I think that its a good idea but i dont think we will be seeing the sedan in december they are or should be developing the coupe if they are hoping it to be out by spring

First post, so go easy on me guys. In reading this rumor/theory from Motor Trend, it sounds like they are referring to a different Toyota branded model of the FT-86. Notice it says, "risk of competing with the versions from Scion and Subaru". So, this isn't a new direction for the current Scion FR-S coupe that is in development. They are theorizing Toyota will introduce a completely different four door model of the FT-86 a few years down the line with more horsepower. Sounds like BS, but it would be interesting if Toyota decided to go this direction.

All of the recent dealer meetings have a Summer 2012 date attached to the FR-S and we're opening up to take deposits already. Unfortunately no actual information about the car has been released to us. I do know they are working on the Scion Racing FR-S already and we'll be seeing quite a few FR-S at SEMA this year.

So let me get this straight, you can order the car (at some dealers, soon) with no actual legitimate information to give to the customer? That's...wow

On the other hand, SEMA FR-S(es)? I can't wait!

I kinda figured the FR-S concept was the SEMA version of the FT86. THey just released it at the wrong auto show.

well, i think he means that there will be production versions of the car released to tuners early from Scion after it's released officially in December/January to advertise it more, ala Honda CR-Z and Genesis Coupe/Sedan

Just watch. They are going to spam the hell out of this car at every drift, time-attack, tuner, import show they can find...

I just hope they give a car to PTuning, from what I've seen of Dragon's tC.

As stupid as that sounds, yes. People started calling and demanding to put down deposits after the FR-S was released to the public. At that time, we had NO information at all and refused, but did take down info. Management just opened up deposits a week or so ago for this vehicle so since release date and vehicle development progress was announced to attendees of their product announcement meetings.

It's the same case with the second generation Prius, FJ Cruiser, even Lexus CT~ tons of people put deposits in and all of our incoming cars were reserved. You still come in and test drive to see if it's the right car for you and we provide a 100% refund if you change your mind. It's simply to secure your place in line.

I'll be posting up legit information as we actually receive it from Toyota/Scion. At this time, all we have for sure is the target release date.
