I'm a 6'4" BRZ owner and I've sat in my own back seat before (figured I should try it if Im having passengers back there). The back seat isnt half bad as long as you have a short person in the front seat so they can move the seat forward.

Maybe Subaru was planning upon many young BRZ owners having an addition or two to the family and then trading up to a a four-door sedan or cute yute after the wife complains about the difficulty of strappin' the young'ns in.

I thought so. Just so there is room for a dog as well.

I'm 5'8 and i found where sitting at a comfortable position to drive there is about 2.5 inches of leg room behind the front seat, i could obviously move up further so they could possibly fit there legs in.

I just checked my car and it does have a back seat. I thought it was just a soft place to sit your backpack.

I put in 2 car seats for my 8 and 4 years old. 8 years old behind the passenger side, 4 years old behind driver side. I am 5-10, to get a comfortable driving position, the leg room for my 4 years old is none. She need to fold her leg up on the seats. My wife Is 5-4 and she needs to move the passenger seat to a point her knees is touching the glove box. My 8 years old behind her has about 6" gap for her leg, because of her height, her feet cannot really touch the floor so it is vey uncomfortable for her feet to stuck behind the chair back, so she will put on the cup holder area and kick in front between the door and the chair.

Yes, it is not a family van, but they enjoy riding it. BTW is is our 3 rd car. Cannot go long trip in this.

Couple more things: I put a chair back cover to protect the chairs. Also, both kids need to take off shoes, because really no room inside.

I'm a very compact 5'5" and my 5'3" daughter sits behind me a-ok. It's pretty fun drifting a corner with two 13 year olds screaming from back.

I've had a 6'1" coworker sit behind the driver seat once and he could clear his knees either side of the front seat. Not ok for more than a mile but we were just curious.

(5'5" = sitting sideways in a coach airplane seat... ahhh...)

Wait a minute! My BRZ has rear seats? Hang on, I have to go out to my garage to confirm this.

I rode in the back seat from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City. They still function as seats if needed. Back seat in a 911 porsche is smaller I think. The seat works fine for short trips, and is do able for long trips. I am 5'10 and the guy sitting in the seat in front of me was about 5'8 I think. Its cramped, but still better than nothing.

Honestly the worst thing in the back seat is the lack of head room.

I just took delivery of mine. You can seat, on the RHS, two adult-sized people who are less than 5'4" each. Are they happy? Nope. Can you do it, and will they agree to it? Yes. I know, I did so tonight on the way to a restaurant.

As others have said, this is a 2+2. Most of the time, you'll have at most 2 folks inside. But, in the event that you need to fit 1 or 2 kids with your SO, it'll work.

Bottom line: it's all about the option value.

THIS is a 2+2: (Two adults + two adults. 1965 - 1967 Pontiac Catalina 2+2)

NOT a 2+ 1/2 +1/2.

Back seat (not seats, because you can't really put anyone behind driver) if you need to carry a child who is too young to sit at the front seat. You may also get a wife/girlfriend at front seat with kid behind for a short trip. But that is all. I used to have RX-8 and there it was much easier to get my son in/out. But I can live with BRZ now when he can get their without assistance. So in practical terms you can either have only one passenger in this car, either in front or back seat. Two passengers will only work for half an hour trips, and seat behind driver is only for bags and other stuff.
