Just an update, as the car has broken in more and now the cold weather has settled in the Pentosin is much smoother than when originally installed.

All gears are now smooth and 2nd is just a bit notchy when extremely cold.

Tried the Pentosin 2 weeks ago.. wanted to drive it a while before posting feedback. I've driven about 700 miles on the Pentosin now (drove it on an out of state trip during Thanksgiving weekend), and 2nd gear is definitely better.. still not perfect, but ALOT better than it was before.

Not sure if it's true for everyone, but I noticed the 2nd-gear improvement the very next day after switching to Pentosin. It's gotten a little better, but I still hope there's more "improvement" to come.

Just a note too: I switched to Amsoil 75W-90 before trying the Pentosin (drove the car almost 2,000 miles on the Amsoil fluid). With Amsoil, I really didn't notice a significant improvement in "feel" over the factory fluid. 2nd gear was still hard, if not impossible to shift into when it was cold. It was noticeably better once the tranny warmed up, but the point of trying Pentosin was to be able to shift into 2nd right after a COLD startup.

So with the Pentosin on cold startup, there's still a little resistance going into 2nd.. sometimes a moderate amount, sometimes not at all. I'll see if it improves any more after putting more miles on it. Definitely worth the money IMO though. I wished I would've found this thread earlier so I could skip trying out the Amsoil fluid altogether.

Switched to Torco MTF last night. When warm, it's pretty much like butter. Very smooth. When cold, it's like the car used to be before it got cooler here. You can feel the transmission and it's a bit notchy (which I prefer) but unlike recently I was able to use 2nd gear every time without any extra effort. Recently it's been cool enough I guess that 2nds been completely blocked on the first (and sometimes second and third) attempts, or very difficult to get into until it warmed up.

Switched the diff to Motul gear 300 also, most of the "binding" feeling from the diff is gone now also.

Just out of curiosity, why didn't you go with Motul 300 for the tranny also?

Just changed my Differential and transmission oil. Used Motul 300 gear for the Diff and Pentosin MTF II for the transmission. I was skeptical that it would make much of a difference but the Pentosin after a single day has greatly improved shifting. Much smoother, especially while cold. Well worth the $60ish to change out.

I wasn't going to mention this but whatever dignity is overrated. I am hoping that Pentosin is great for the skin because I swear I got more on myself then in the transmission. When my wife came down to bring me paper towels to clean up it was all she could do to contain her laughter.
