the deer!.generally the deer jumps out in front of the car.

Yes, contact your dealer. They might not have the part in stock but they would be able to get it for you.

It is not "impossible" to avoid deer contact all the time. I've ridded motorcycles all over the country in the early morning and early/late evenings and at nght in deer country and adjust my caution and speed accordingly.

Only the driver REALLY knows. Just Sayin'.

Not to mention there's a high chance the plastic mounting points for the headlight could have cracked/broken, and those headlights are more than $500, as well.

This is not the kind of accident you should care about being on carfax or insurance.

Depending on how deer and you impacted one another, I'd be really surprised to find out this is only damage to the bumper cover. Whether you do it yourself or not, you need to get it checked out.

I'm probably the wrong person to address going/not going to insurance because I couldn't care less about the CarFAX on any vehicle I own. I normally keep them until they aren't worth selling, and really CarFAX only matters if the car is under 100,000 miles or a handful of years old when you try to sell it.

Also, I'll take some of the venison jerky here too.

I'd let the insurance handle it. That's what you pay them for.
