BTW, has anyone from Perrin been in touch with any of you guys about the rattling? It's beginning to really get annoying. With them being so far away I honestly don't know what they could do about it.

They're beneficial for aggressive driving (autocross, track, etc.). They prevent exhaust systems from shifting around (significant movement) during aggressive cornering. They are not meant to eliminate any of the vibration issues me and you are having. It's more piece of mind. OEM rubber mounts can hold up just fine under normal use. I use the middle hangar mostly because I don't want the resonator to make contact with the transmission tunnel during cornering.

I contacted them and with a little work on my part I was able to stop the rattling. Albeit mine was different then yours, unless one of your pieces has a flaw I don't see why with some work you couldn't stop the rattling.

Well that's the thing if I had access to a lift I could get under there and fool around to see if I can find a fix. Unfortunately, I have to get to a shop to do this.

You don't need a lift to work on the exhaust. I did my install and tinkering afterwards with ramps and 2 jack stands.

Allow me to jump in. How much exhaust modification can we get away with in CA? I was thinking we can safely modify anything beyond the cat. Maybe I should ask, where's the cat located on the BRZ/FR-S??

(apologies in advance for noob question)

There's a cat after the header and another in the front pipe.

I want to add that for emissions purposes the O2 Sensor is between the two cats. This makes the cat in the header critical and the one in the front pipe just for extra cleansing.

Unfortunately its hard to see the cat in the header so a catless front pipe will look like a catless exhaust to people who aren't 86 enthusiasts.

I wonder if you could pass emissions in CA if you keep the stock header & cat, but go with a non-cat front pipe. Because then you could go with a complete header back system.

Not to mention that a front pipe w/o a cat is half the price of one with a cat.

Huh? It's a $100 difference. Front pipe w/o cat is $315 from Perrin's site directly and $415 with the cat. If you're in a state where they do visual inspections, $100 is nothing compared to a ticket.
