are the monoflex height adjustable coilovers? I.e. same as type flex?

car looks fantastic mate, I would go a touch lower personally if there is adjustment available but my personal opinion of course.

The MonoFlex are Tein's top of the range street kit and are fully height adjustable and also have 16 levels of damping adjustment. It's also compatible with the EDFC.

Monoflex is the monotube version of Type Flex (which is twin tube).

This is correct, I got them from Fulcrum. The first 86 in Brisbane they put the MonoFlex on.

Fulcrum installed the adjustable swaybars this morning. I can happily report the car's dynamics have been improved and now feels better than stock.

Yes, I did. The bars are super pro and Fulcrum's R&D team found that 20f/18r was the best suited bars to the 86, so I went with those.

My question is

Did Fulcrum find they were the best suited bars for the Tein spring rates?

Just wondering if they tried different bars on the OEM springs compared to the Teins.

This is a very good question. From what I could gather, they have a number of options regarding swaybars, so it is very possible. Fulcrum are official suppliers of Tein, have been for years, and work very closely with Super Pro, so I would not be surprised at all if the head of Fulcrum R&D meant the 20f/18r was best suited to the MonoFlex. I could very very easily find out a definitive answer to this by giving them a ring tomorrow.

One of the reasons I am asking is because you have fitted Tein Monoflex Coilovers. They have a much higher spring rate than the factory springs.

On a racing car they pick a spring rate and then fine tune the car with sway bars.

On a stock sprung 86 they could possible use the heavier sway bars for control OR if the car has been lowered excessively then the roll centres would be miles out and then the car would need bigger sway bars to control the roll. Road cars typically have soft springs and stiff sway bars so the bumps are cushy and the corners dont roll too much.

I am actually wondering if the 86 needs a smaller rear sway bar for handling, which I assume you are after going by your build.
The reason I was thinking smaller is it helps keep the tyre on the road. If you go stiff rear then it will tend to lift the inside tyre. Reading some post on here about guys racing their 86's, some have remover the rear sway bay.

The Teins already reduce the droop travel

Great car and upgrade!

I have one question about Monoflex, I'm thinking to buy it,

In Daily drive you noticed any noise or clank?

Is it simple to adjust ? I see that rear have control on top, but front (since upsidedown) on the bottom

Have you tested it on a track?

Hi Teo, thank you for the comments

The roads around Brisbane where I live are not the best. I do not notice any loud noises or clanking from the MonoFlex during daily driving.

To be honest with you, I have not adjusted the suspension yet. Fulcrum set it all up to my specifications when they installed them. But you are correct, the front damping adjustments are made at the bottom.
