Orders are on a first come first serve basis. I don't know where you guys come up with this? The only ones that aren't were the original random allocation, and the new/surplus November allocation. They were divvied up to each state before they went out to customers (on first come basis), because some states were getting no allocation due to it all going to copious Brisbane/Sydney/Melb orders.

Congrats, Fred.

<rant>
This is one of the reasons why I cancelled and ordered a BRZ. There's nothing at all "first come first served" about how Toyota is selling the 86 from what I can see.

The wait for a BRZ may end up being longer, but at least it's fair. I'm happy knowing someone who only just decided to buy one can't ring around to every Subaru dealer and drive away the same week (or same day), thus making my wait longer, like some folks have with the Toyotas.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for the folks getting cars sooner, and don't begrudge them their cars... just annoyed at how poorly TMCA seems to be handling allocations.

Example:

Sydney dealer: June 1-15: 30 orders
Perth dealer: June 1-15: 5 orders

First come first serve: Potentially no one in Perth would be included.

State based first come first serve: 3/5 cars delivered in Perth, 27/30 cars delivered in Sydney. The 2 and 3 guys missing out all would have ordered somewhere between June 12-15.

I don't know how they are being allocated TBH. I ordered a manual GT in late July and was told to expect it in Sept or Oct. Since then it has been pushed back gradually to the latest info I got yesterday which was 'it is scheduled to be built in Jan and delviered in Feb, but we can't confirm it yet'. As a result I would rather travel 400k's to guarantee getting my hands on a car now, rather than wait indefinitely. :happy0180:

Apparently the purchaser had to pull out at the last minute and I am the lucky bugger to benefit from it. I can only assume they had no-one else in the queue at the dealership.

Um dude, there have been about 5-10 BRZ sold via carsales already and there have only been about 120? total delivered to Aus so far.

You guys need to realise that almost all of these dealers are individual companies and have to front the capital for each and every car they order. If they have one of their customers such as yourself cancel an order, they have zero to gain from offering that car up to one of their competitor dealers for purchase. Most of them will either offer them to their own existing order customers (zero gain, but good business practice), or cycle their demo cars, which right now will land them about 5k per vehicle. A few will list them straight on carsales like this car fred just got but it's not the way for them to maximise profit on the vehicle.

Um dude, if you're going to quote my post, could you maybe address things I actually said, please?

I take no issue with anything you've mentioned there, apart from the fact that it has almost nothing to do with my post.

Thanks.
