If you don't like a particular car, either keep it to yourself or come up with a more articulate way of expressing why you don't like it. Don't use "rice".

But seriously it is true. I used to think thongs like colored less for the interior and mambo doors were rice. I'm doing less on my footwells as I have now seen what a clean install looks like. Lambo doors also look sick on an frs as far as I'm concerned. Do what you want and let haters hate. Maybe they don't have the skills or money for the exact part or clean install, let them be happy with what they can do.

Have fun enjoying your car, thats why you got it after all. Not for others to tell you why its cool.

Before I went through all of these 2 pages, I thought *rice* was something like "You raff you ruse".

Your classic Ricer: ridiculous wings (I know this one is stock), vinyls, stickers, chrome badges, headlights, tail lights, disgusting wheels, 8000k+ HID lights (super blue or worse).

The opposite, Super Clean: the car is visibly modded but it looks very clean and like the modifications belong. Looks like an upgraded version of factory spec.

Just because you don't consider yourself racist, or have any negative feelings about asians, doesn't change the origin of the word. "Rice" comes from "rice-burner", a derogatory term I first heard back in the mid-80's to refer to cars built in Japan. Today, it's still a derogatory term, and it's still used to describe cars that engage in a style of modifying popular in Japan. It is a racist term, period.

There is no right or wrong when it comes things like spoiler or no spoiler, stickers or no stickers, 5 spoke or 6 spoke wheels.
^^^ This, this, a million times this. The ONLY time you'll hear me flat out slam someone's ride is if A) they solicit my opinion directly, or B) it is unsafe or annoying to other people on the roads (i.e. cars slammed too low, tires at dangerous camber, 12,000 HID lights, etc...)

If anything, I think there's a thing or two we can learn from "ricers". They clearly don't care what people think. And I think that's important, do what u like.

Just don't take it to the extreme lol

I think I have to disagree on this... most of the real life "ricers" I've met (not online drama) are doing it primarily to look "cool" or something along those lines so really in my experience the entire point of their mods is other people's opinions

(Always exceptions)

Haha it wasn't meant as a serious comment.
I was basically saying they must not give a crap what people think, if they do those things to their rides.

But I can see how what you're saying is true.

No harm intended :happy0180:
I do need to add that most i've seen in real life do it to impress their buddies, not the general public or the general auto enthusiasts.

Thankfully though I've really seen an overall decrease in it in the last couple years, maybe since stuff like F&F is kinda pulling away from it... kinda lol

you know...for someone in here telling people their opinions aren't valid and such....you have a very distorted view of reality and you are highly opinionated...and wrong...

my car doesn't have:
1.) a race...therefore you cannot be racist towards my car...sorry look up race it just doesn't apply to cars.

2.) feelings, so despite the fact that you are wrong (see 1) you can't hurt my car's feelings

3.) this thread, if you missed the title and first post, is a SOLICITATION OF OPINION.

with that being said....

Rice is anything meant to make a car look faster that doesn't actually serve that function,

all body kits are rice, unless developed with actual CFD/wind tunnel or at the very least engineering, to help extract air from under the car and maximize the tunneling effect under the car to decrease lift.

most of the rims you fan boi's buy are rice, if you upgrade rim diameter and it isn't to clear brakes or meet a class spec...it's rice...now you can tell yourself it is faster or handles better...but then you can go home and look at a real racecar and realize real racecars have sidewalls...

Spoilers on cars that do not have rear traction demands that exceed factory capability...are rice. (i refused to put a wing on my race car until I was having highspeed traction issues and needed it)

decals...are rice

outrageous colors on cars...guess what...rice

lowering your car (especially on a chassis this developed) with out addressing a need (i want low is a desire not a need) is rice.

window tint...as long as it isn't some funky color...serves a purpose and therefore with exceptions i can say...is NOT (always) rice

Yes i realize that there are factory cars that i have just labeled as rice (and tuxedo cartman may even realize some of these cars AREN'T asian in origin) Factory cars are not immune to rice, porsche produces some truly LOOK AT ME ugly colors...and everyone puts 19's and 20's on factory cars...some are functional, some are decidedly not.

:happy0180:

I understand you don't like this post, that's fine, im even less sensitive to insults than my car

rice = larger wheels that actually make the car slower. Body kits that don't have a proper function like downforce or something of that matter and a massive sound system that adds weight to a car that was designed to be as light as possible.

Wow, that was.... REALLY poorly written. And a little crazy. Are you drunk?

I'm not going to argue any of the things you just brought up (as you simply made my case in my post on page one)... with ONE exception: I never told anyone their opinions aren't valid. I *did* smack down the assertion that "rice" as a derogatory term isn't racist, because that's not an opinion but rather a fact. Would you like for me to respond with a two-thousand page post detailing nationalism in capitalist markets? Because I'm bored, and I will.
