Undercoat is waste of money. It gets everywhere, and the techs will absolutely love you when it comes time to work on your car. My old WRX, 5 + years, rallies, daily driven, and no rust.

Modern day cars are a lot better then the cars of yesterday, not to mention, the car has a warranty on rust anyways, so if it starts rusting within a few years, I'd be worried as to why.

I can only think of... your rear wheels slipping and the LSD/Traction control trying to adjust and fix the slide. With these Michelin HP Primacy tires... better get use to it
Other than that, it would be great if we can get a clip of how it sounds to get a better idea.

Drive safely out there! :happy0180:

"I've heard the noise. I've been able to get it to occur when being feathery in the throttle at low speeds in first/second gear (say below 2k rpm). I'm used to riding second gear sort of low (6-10mph) while in parking lots looking for a spot. When I give it a little gas, I typically hear that noise. Pretty sure it normal."

"Just picked up my BRZ yesterday and today i just noticed that grainy/rattly type noise. It definitely sounded like it came from below the car like either below the engine or near the tranny. Im a little freaked out myself but keep telling myself that its a new car and that I've never owned a Subaru so I will just Keep Calm & Carry On."

maybe fix?

No problem! If you reaaaaally wanted to get undercoating, don't have it done at the dealership. Undercoating shouldn't cost any more then $150-200 ish. $400 is just absurd.

Yes undercoating is a waste of money from the dealership. One bottle only costs 9$, 3 bottles covers the whole car. If u really want undercoating get it done somewhere else.

That's an unusual sound... Never heard anything like that in my vehicle before... Not sure if related, but just out of curiosity...what station and grade of gasoline do you use??

I have a feeling it might be a tranny synchro issue...

Just started happening randomly? There was a thread about something similar; people said it was coming from our undercarriage panel.

Apparently the problem was the screws being too long and was designed for the JDM full- undercarriage panels... North Americans only got a quarter of that piece.

I would find you the thread but I'm at work and using my phone. Lol

Hope you get it sorted out!
