This is one feature that I really wish had made it to the production model, at least as an option, even if they toned it down a little to make it less cluttered. Touch screen radios are very annoying to use.

I honestly love the plain face of the wheel, and tend to end up not using steering wheel controls except for cruise control. Which I'm kinda wanting not on my 86 anyway, because I rather dislike it. But I'm weird. The Honda has cruise control buttons and I agree for a daily it's annoying not to have wheel controls.

Personally love the no buttons on the steering wheel. Tho who ever designed the touch screen interface clearly doesn't drive the car. Alot of wasted space and the buttons are way to small. They give large amount of space to things no one really pushes often or cares about. But they make the volume buttons small and sometimes have to glance at the screen to raise/lower volume and change stations.

When I would AutoX in my Speed3 (which had steering wheel controls), I'd hit the damn buttons by accident all the time!
I don't care that this car lacks them.

I vote to have them because at the moment I don't autox (but plan to), so I don't worry about accidentally hitting them. They're just safer to use and I DO switch songs often. My fingers are thick and the buttons are small. It's pretty much impossible to do a no-look switch like I used to with old units that were analog.
Eventually I'll swap out the unit to something MUCH more user-friendly, though, especially since I don't care for NAV (only one road in and one road out). |

I use steering wheel control all the time in my current car, most useful button is "mute" and worried little bit of no control on BRZ.
But I really like uncluttered look of clean steering wheel and minimal buttons on the dash. These days most cars' dashboard seem want to be a jet fighter cockpit, too too many bloody buttons and switches. Just enjoy the simplicity this car is pursuing guys. |
