Good point, but there are some who will never get it.The older you get,the harder it gets to learn. The mechanics of driving FWD is the opposite of RWD.

You should not really disable the VSC unless you are trying to slide it around.

I really don't get all this talk of the car being dangerous to drive. Either a lot of people here don't know how to drive or I'm a professional. This is my first RWD car, and I've never had the car slip even in rain, and I drive what I consider fairly spirited for public roads (revving and taking turns quickly). I just don't get it.

Exactly. People having a difficult time keeping this car in a straight line are just terrible drivers (sorry, but its true).

Ignore the suggestions to get stickier tires. They just allow you to get up to faster speeds before you flail and lose control.

Go do HPDE or go running back to FWD.

Any car is dangerous if you drive beyond your skill limit. Drivers training programs, empty parking lots, autocross, trackdays- etc. are great ways to learn. If you don't want to learn, get a buspass .

Using that logic, maybe he should get the skinniest, least grippiest tires he can find.

Then he can lose control at seriously slow speeds.

Honestly?... yes. Yes he should go find skinnier tires. It'll train him better on how RWD works, and keep him from building up the speed to do something lethally dumb.

I gotta say, the number of posts I'm reading from people saying, "Oh, this car is so wild and dangerous, it'll bite you!" and "Ooh, never ever turn the VSC off, because it'll eat you alive"... are scaring the shit out of me. Seriously, did any of you ever actually learn how to drive, or were you just handed your licenses when you turned 16? Just how reckless are you people driving, to get the twins to behave like this? Because mine has approximately all the "bite" my 99 Miata did when it was new.

Let me say this clearly and succinctly: if you're driving this car (in the dry, in properly maintained running condition) to the point where the rear end is coming around on you expectedly, you are driving too fast, and should not be allowed on the roads... at all. I mean that. If you don't know how to find a vehicle's limits by slowing and gradually easing into them, but instead just jump into a new car and try to drive it like your old one... you should have your license yanked.

Everyone knows that you get the most car control learning done on a rainey day DE or HST.

If you don't understand this you should not be in this conversation!

Agreed. I tried to play with it in a couple of empty, soaking wet parking lots the other day. In the first one, which had just been seal-coated, it was slick enough that I could get it loose if I worked my tail off to do it. The 2nd lot hadn't been coated and was kind of rough asphalt. I ended up playing with it as a skid pad and the car will practically pull my face off before it gets upset in the turn.

OP, I really don't know how you're losing this car. Are your tires at the right pressure, and is the car aligned well? It makes me wonder if something isn't defective, just because mine is sticking SO HARD.

threads like this are a real eye opener. If you cant drive a RWD car competently, dont turn off the goddamn driving aids. The electronic nannies are there to HELP YOU. smh

Almost all cars are designed to understeer at the limit for safety reason,...thats whats so special about our car, it DOESN'T ! Take the nannies off and its up to you to know the cars limits by seat of the pants driving, thats why this car is such a drivers car,.....which is a good thing by the way. Bias towards oversteer is always quicker around a track, but in the wrong hands can be unsafe. find an empty parking lot and learn your cars limits with the nannies off.

Go drive an s2000 and report back to us. Better yet, go drive a gen II turbo mr2.

I went for a drive yesterday on one of my favorite local roads. I was cooking pretty good, maybe 7 or 8 10ths at my current driving skill level. I left everything on, I didn't even put it into sport. The TC light only came on once or twice. Why? Because I was entering corners in a manner that didn't upset the car. If you're not driving at the limit the aids shouldn't be doing all that much even if they are turned on because you're doing their job before they can.

Because of that, I leave them on, so that when a deer decides to run out in front of me and I have to brake mid corner I don't have to think too much to keep from something catastrophic happening.

I want to try the VSC Sport option, but honestly I feel that on the current tires especially, going any faster on the street is just dumb. Maybe it'll let me feel things a bit more in the corners but so far it's been pretty unobtrusive.

Lastly, the Primacy's howl like an animal being tortured long before they break loose. Is everyone driving with your Initial D soundtrack cranked or something so that you have no idea what's going on? Even my buddy who was following me in a different car commented on how much noise the tires were making as I powered out of corners when we went driving together.
