Lightest/quietest exhaust system out there
As I get older, I want nice tone-quality, but not loud. I'm also prepping the car for SCCA Solo work, so weight-savings is important. I plan on headers as well (trying to determine best one), and I need high-flow cats as well.
Anyone really dig into this. I realize I'm asking for a unicorn, but can't hurt to ask. Thx, George B. |

Check Nameless, I got it. It is very pleasant, nice tone, fairly quiet, and includes a high flow Cat. To make matters even better, they are running a 10% off before SEMA, so you would get about $100 off if you go with axleback and frontpipe with high flow Cat.
Here: http://shop.namelessperformance.com/2013-brz/ I got this one: Subaru BRZ 2.5" Street Axleback and High Flow Cat Package (Replaces Overpipe) I also selected Offset-offset muffler (helps tone it down) and helmholtz resonator which helps tone it down even more.

I believe your best bet is to look into the Greddy/Trust and HKS line of exhausts. Each company has a "street" line which are known for higher flow than stock but also on the quiet side. The stock exhaust isn't the quietest so if that's your benchmark it will be quite achievable for the aftermarket. Keep in mind your stock exhaust is already fairly light.
If you want quiet AND very light.. then you'll have to pony up for a Titanium exhaust. There are a few options already available. Personally, i'm also trying to find the lightest and quietest exhaust possible. Laguna Seca Raceway has a strict sound rule. |

Check out the Perrin exhaust system. The resonated version is very quiet and it's definitely lighter than the stock.

Here's the Nameless axleback (non off-set), overpipe/downpipe/highflow cat combo:

How far are you going George, STX? If so and you're like me not wanting loud you need something like the Perrin resonated. That way when you add the header/overpipe/midpipe your total volume won't be too loud. So far I have the Perrin Resonated catback with the Motiv catless midpipe (test pipe) and its still very adult. If you are just doing a catback for CS/RTR then just get the non-resonated Perrin or similar.

I wonder how easily a G35/37 muffler would weld in?
And I wonder how it would sound? I LOVE the tuned yet quiet sound of those cars!!! |

I'm getting, really, really sick of hearing this ^ about Perrin, but then seeing this v.
![]() They made a decision to use that welding process to try to save the end user some $, but if I paid the ~$1500 for their entire header back and got this 'craftsmanship' on the cat-back sections I would be fucking livid. Makes documented power, great. US company, great. Awesome craftsmanship, not so much.

Thanks guys--I'd like to find a quality Ti system, as I had Greddy & Akra systems on my prior cars that were very light w/ good quality & sound (although the Evo Greddy system was a bit loud). I'm researching more & more. The Milltech systems looked/sounded good, but hoping for lighter (trying to get the car sub-2600 on low fuel), and I could stand to lose 10-15.
Tom, STX all the way--going headers back. I just hope I don't convert it into an SM car by getting the turbo bug. lol |

WORKS makes some stealthy, quiet stuff...I haven't heard their offerings for the FRS/BRZ in person. Anyone have any sound clips?
