Camber Plates
So I've read that the brz stock will not be able to get any camber adjusted at all. And I've been seeing that some of these coilovers come with camber plate. Will you be able to adjust the cambers a good amount using these camber plates? Or is it just better to get a camber kit? I come from a 370Z which has no such thing as camber plates. So I am a bit lost as to what it does and which is better.

Camber plates only affect your front end, and yes they give you quite a bit of adjustment to set up your camber properly. As for the rear wheels the only real way to get the camber properly sorted is to invest in adjustable control arms. The camber kits that are basically eccentric bolts might give 1 degree of adjustability tops. When i put my coilovers on my rear tires have about 3 degees of camber and I need to dial them back to about 1 degree so i have no choice but to get the adjustable control arms. Really, the only reason to worry about camber is if you are lowering your car at all, the lower you go the more camber occurs. For a spring swap on your stock dampers the camber kits should be fine, but if you do a coilover setup and drop more than an inch and a half you'll be better equipped to handle camber adjustments with camber plates and control arm upgrades.

ahh i see. i thought they were for front and rear. i guess i will be going with a camber kit afterall. thanks for the help. the 370Z's have no camber plates whatsoever.

Beyond getting entry level coil-overs with camber plates included, you could check out Whiteline's range of products, which include several camber adjustable parts:

Camber Bolts and Bushings in rear are the best and easiest bet for some quick camber. It all depend son how mod crazy you will go with what options to get front and rear.

Let's say you went with a simple 1" drop on KW V3s...would camber plates be necessary?

Camber plates only work with macpherson strut suspensions, anything double wishbone(ish) needs adjustable upper or lower arms to adjust camber.

DO the camber plates in the front make a big difference to ride quality?
i understand i am replacing a rubber mount with a steel bearing with zero slack, but is it a huge difference? |
