"A-GPS additionally uses network resources to locate and use the satellites in poor signal conditions. In very poor signal conditions, for example in a city, these signals may suffer multipath propagation where signals bounce off buildings, or are weakened by passing through atmospheric conditions, walls, or tree cover. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assisted_GPS I'm assuming the already overpriced 329$ iPad mini would be the only "logical" install here since the 3G one is 459$ (you're now in dedicated HU territory). A-GPS won't help you trying to navigate while driving. |

but does the desk top of the iPad flip when it is turned on its side??? I seem to think it doesn't. and for that reason i would never put it in my dash. it would piss me off soooooo much staring at it sideways all the time.

I always have mine flipped on its side. iPad apps are made to be used that way, or the other. iPhone apps are not as friendly.

^well I stand corrected. I have the iPhone and I know it doesn't. my Bro had the iPad, and I couldn't remember, but thought it wouldn't flip like the iPhone - except on the internet or something.

Yeah i have the 4S and never had much of a problem its fast and responsive and i live in LA, is it the same as kind of GPS on the phones? Either way doesnt bother me much, i rarely dont know where i'm going so it wouldn't matter that much for me. haha thats why ive never owned a GPS.
As for radio functionality. Radio stations sound terrible over the antenna, not in all spots but in general it's pretty crap. Theres an app called TuneIn Radio 99cents, on iOS not sure if theres an android version. It's pretty great if radios your thing. It streams and doesnt eat up your data too badly. But local radios are pretty terrible IMO, damn commercials and shitty programming. XM Radio streams too, it's pretty decent. But if your streaming might as well do with Spotify. |

Yeah I wouldnt like it either if it didn't, its spends 100% of its life on its side. There are apps that are iPhone native that wont switch though. That really sucks but most useful programs at least have iPad native ones too.

The iPhone also has a GPS receiver in it. The A-GPS is only used when you're in an area where you can't get a lot of locks on different satellites. It will use network information around you to triangulate a better position.
