Well anything that happens to go wrong is going to be taken care of under warranty. If you don't mind warranty work and would rather have rwd I would say do it. If the warranty work bothers you than I would say no. Btw, I'm at 4k miles and the only thing I've had to replace is my high pressure fuel pump for the cricket noises.

Have you gone for a test drive in the FR-S/BRZ?
What are they willing to give you for the Civic? And is it more than what you owe (being upside down sucks)? How bothered are you by the little things? Personally I dove in head first because I fell in love with the car once I drove it. I got the bumper-to-bumper extended warranty so it should cover the most of any potential issues with a first year car. |

One rule I've always played by is when in doubt, do nothing. Wait and your car will end up being a year newer than the rest of us.

First let me just say, the FR-S is one of the best cars i have owned (I've owned an '86 DOHC Supra, '98 Supra Turbo, '01 3000GT VR-4 and dabbled in a '96 300ZX TT). I have only had to deal with the crickets, whch are already back so i live with them. I have had no recalls as the only one I was aware of was for the manual. Everything else are TSB's which are not the same as recalls. The thing that people forget about when buying the FR-S is that it's a Subaru car, it's made by Subaru, engineered by Subaru, and sold by Toyota. In that regard people expecting the Toyota brand reliability are out of their minds, we're playing with a Subaru and we all know Subaru's aren't even in the same class as Toyota as far as not having issues.
I dont foresee there being huge changes implemented in the 2014 models, they may correct some issues but if they are issues that could cause any serious part failures you would see an actual recall for those on the 2013 models. The other thing is that the 2014 models will no doubt cost more as i have a feeling that Toyota/Scion will listen to some of the gripes and add things like HID's to the car. I bought mine knowing full well that i was going to mod it, and not just slap on an intake and fart can, I'm talking turbochargers and full suspension. I say that if you have driven an FR-S/BRZ and still aren't sold then hold out because theres no point over analyzing something thats meant to be 100% fun 100% of the time. I actually enjoy my drive to and from work now, to put this in perspective I just sold my 2012 Aprilia RSV-4R (one of the greatest sportbikes ever made), to buy parts for my FR-S because I was having more fun driving my little car than my badass bike... |

i drove the automatic twice and my civic would put it to shame that was one of the reasons why i backed out on it it just felt gutless with the auto tranny thatys why i decided on the civic and now regreting it since i am financing a car i should have bought something worth sticking with for 4 years
maybe if i drove the manual i would have changed my mind

If you are basing your purchasing decision on engine power, you can get a Ford Mustang V6 with 300HP for the same price and you can beat your Si and the FR-S every day of the week in a drag race. Different strokes for different folks I guess... |

MY FR-S has basically been trouble free - just oil changes
only issues: - window switches vibrate to heavy base - diver's side wondow squicked the window seal just a little bit (doesn't affect the effectiveness of the seal) |
