I might take the right 328 or Testarossa over one, though. Anything else we're talking big money (for me) to get; F360, 550M, and newer.
I'd take a Ferrari anyday, but my reasons aren't always rational as you will see below

Ok.

I previously owned a BMW e46 M3 convertible which I had for about 6 years and was therefore due a change. I always hankered for a more "useable" Ferrari, something with more than 2 seats, something I could drive frequently (ie 2-3 times a week, since I travel a lot, that would be my DD). So I looked at Mondials and 456's. The 456 was a lot more expensive but I concocted a plan that would get me the 456, for the price of my M3 and therefore went for it.

Unfortunately, as you can guess, its all gone a bit pear shaped on me and the car is not able to be registered, so I am now in the process of examining legal options to recover some of my money.

Now none of this would be particularly worrisome (other than the loss of a few $$ which my M3 did a good job of in depreciation over 6 years anyway) if it wasn't for my wife, who was against my cunning plan in the first instance and now loves to remind me just how dumb I was and asks at every other opportunity "what the hell was I thinking???"

During a day of casual conversation with the wife, she asked what I would replace the "shitheap" (her pet name for my Fazza) with. After a few moments I said I was thinking of an Alfa 147 GTA......well she literally hit the roof...no more Italian Crap, haven't you learnt your lesson, your car preferences border on insanity, we will never have any money to retire on, etc etc etc. So thinking quickly I said.....well Toyota have just brought out this interesting little sports car that I like....she said "what? a Toyota?"......I said yes....she says, show me!.

So I got on the web, showed her the pictures and the very next day she drove me down to the Toyota Dealer to order one......apparently so that I didn't do anything else stupid!! So now I am awaiting delivery of my new Toyota 86GT, bought to replace my "shitheap" (Ferrari 456)

See.......long story!!

Not as prestigious, but definitely more useable, and it'll save you a lot of dollars in upkeep!

Hey man, thanks for telling your story. I'll admit by midway I was expecting a *much* worse outcome. Good on your wife for letting you get the 86

I am certainly not complaining, I cant wait to get the 86 but it does depend on how you look at it. I'm not sure she "let" me have the 86. I think it was more her version of managing risk the risk being me!!

Well I dunno; anyone who wants to manage me by marching me to a dealer to get an 86 is welcome to do so! :happy0180:

Count your blessings - it could have been a Camry. Or a Schwinn

Sold ,....believe it or not 2012 Boss Laguna Seca,....reason,.... wanted a track HPDE car,.... thought the Laguna was it,... after talking to a few that were tracking a Boss on a regular basis,....they are going broke (relatively speaking as some of these guys have huge bank accounts) replacing tire and brakes,...to the point above my pay grade for what I wanted to do. Decided to go light and less HP,.... I don't fit in a Miata so the FRS/BRZ is perfect,....doing a huge amount of mods to make it the perfect track day car with the money left over with Boss,.....but boy do I miss the acceleration.

I came from a 2000 celica gts/2011 camry se v6, FRS is slower than both but... SO much more fun... plus its cheaper to have fun in than either car!

last night I had her, nice detailing
Took me FOREVER to get her back to bone stock... uhhggsgsgs

you can go drifting at an astonishing price of $160 per set of rear tires that wont fall apart, for the mustang you're looking at $600 bucks

almost 4x as much fun for the same price in tires... hrmmm

FRS - 1
302 - 0

miss the acceleration? get a turbo, problem fixed!

I feel for you man, dealing with Italian manufacturers is pretty much sucksville on this side of the pond. I never owned an Italian car but my Aprilia had its share of interesting and expensive issues and it was brand new...guess thats the price of exclusivity.

That being said, I will eventually own my dream car which happens to be a Ferrari, a Ferrari 599 GTO. I'll live in a double wide with this parked out front if i have to, good thing about being single is i can make stupid decisions like that!

Pure sex.
