I either really lucked out, or some dealers are WAY worse than others for wait times.

Date Ordered: June 27th or 28th 2012
Date Promised: August 24th 2012
Date Delivered: July 16th 2012
Total days since order: 19 days

I ordered the SWP 6MT BRZ from Scarboro Subaru.
So upset, I feel like when I complained to the manager about the wait time that they made me wait even longer lol.

I posted this question in another topic, but does anyone know if the dealership is bound to the amount they offered on a trade-in? This is assuming the car takes a long time to come in (6+ months) and assuming the trade-in has normal wear and tear, km's, etc.

I believe as long as its in black and white...there should be a clause on it stating that you will receive the amount they quoted you on base on the condition they appraised at with normal wear and tear until the day you trade it in for the beautiful fr-s. But don't completely take my word for it as im a economic student and not a harvard law blondie

I asked my dealer about it and was told they would fight for me to keep the value at what they said initially, even if it is 6 months after initially signing. I'd recommend just asking your dealer the same question.

And wow the dealers and their lies! First I was told beginning of Oct, then I got a call saying its going to be here early mid Sept... Then I couldnt get a hold of the salesman so I went in and found him he said 1st week of Oct for sure... Then I came in and he said Christmas because I chose Asphalt (appearantly one of the harder colours to get?) then he said if i get black it will be faster, then he said nevermind, and now he said he traded my asphalt order with an ultramarine and "it will be here November 100%" "umm 100% eh?" "Yes 100% sure"...

I dont mind the wait... Just prefer 1 story rather than being lied to.

Oh and I tried going to other dealerships, even called some up north... all of their responses were "Sure I can get you a MT FRS, if you order today it should be here in March"
I remember in the early parts of the ETA lies the salesmen told me that the white brz is usually at the end of the production line cause in japan they dont really lile white as much so itll take longer. El oh el.

We have always worked on a "next in line " policy, thats just the fair way to do things, that being said it still is frustrating, so i sympathize. The one issue is some lower volume dealers have to wait for their next order which means you might be waiting in Que for some time before they are able to order your car .... thus the longer wait times.

You should tell them that the process is stupid and unfair in combination with the OMVIC policy that says one dealer can't take business away from other dealers.

Orders should be channeled through head office and so the dealer you buy from shouldn't matter. Those who order first should get their car first.

Now if there are dealers who have cars, and other dealers who have waiting customers with signed contracts, those customers are shit out of luck.

Hey Corey I have a question if you don't mind..

so does the dealer actually have a clue about when customers car should really be arriving?

I called last weekend and my sales guy said my car was actually in production. originally I was told december but now there saying possibly November.

are they just feeding it to me or do they actually have a realistic idea for when it should arrive?

does the dealer have some type of tracking programs that provides them updates as to "in production" "at port" "shipped" ect.?

thanks

Dealers do have a tracking system, they can see where cars are, and if they are coming. They don't have ETA's so giving an exact date is something they shouldn't be doing. Also, if you bought accessories for your vehicle they are installed "at port" theres no timeline on how long that takes, they may have a long list of cars and accessories to install or no cars so when yours arrives it could get installed right away or it could be waiting in line for its accessories.
( I'm refering to accessories like the premium audio system)

I know this cuz I work at a dealership in Canada so feel free to PM me or msg me if you have any questions.
