The base price is 15,995 and the article says a trim level above that will have the GPS. You figure, add 1,100 to that base price for a fully equipped iQ and your negotiating power is stripped.

Haggling isn't always a bad thing. ;p
Keep in mind that it's easier to lower price with specials and sales than to try and raise the price once you start selling. They can also do other things like zero interest loans. My point is that $16K is not out of line before they start selling.

I'm glad you got a good price for your Yaris. There is a Yaris forum called yarisworld.com. that you might be interested in.

Saying it over and over again doesn't make your point more valid. Read the post above yours... what you are saying does not apply to scion.

Rules change as the market demands. Nothing is written in stone.

An estimated 36/37 MPG, 16k, and no versatility....I still don't understand the appeal of this car. The 1.3 liter engine is a dissappointment.

Rules.. maybe. Entire marketing strategies... much less likely. Regardless - Scion is pure price now and there have been no announcements otherwise... so factoring in regular retail negotiations into this argument is

Anyway... so did anyone catch the Top Gear episode with them shoving a St. Bernard in one of these things? Hilarious...

I don't really see it that way, 36mpg city and combined is decent. So what if it doesn't manage 40mpg on the highway... it wasn't designed for a highway.

It was styled to be a funky little city run-about, aka it's a fashion accessory. It will have that Smart novelty that will probably wear off after the first couple years.

Motor trend is decent for information, but please don't buy into the "enthusiasts" in the comment section, some of them are surprisingly immature and naive.

The Yaris I had did 34mpg city and got it up to 44mpg highway. The 1.3 liter engine has been around for a while. They offer the 1.3 in the Yaris overseas. The mileage it gets is garbage when compared to other cars that are priced in the same range. Toyota should've put 1.0 liter diesel that they offer everywhere else outside of North America.

Burn me alive for saying Scion IQ is

...is a really good car and i wouldn't mind considering to buy it.

- it comes with cooler looking wheels (bbs multispoke look)
- interior looks very sporty and luxurious
- looks like its better on gas than smart car
- i keep imagining driving this at a track out of the box ....than the FRS

94hp/ 89lb ft tq
unfortunately only 1 transmission choice (automatic)

I owned a Smart and loved it. I'd probably still own it if they hadn't closed the dealership in Minnesota resulting in no way to get it serviced. The iQ looks like a fun car and there is something fun about a car you can't take out and push to near 100% on normal roads vs. a car that performs much better but you never get to push past 50%.

I can drive real cars but I still have a blast going and driving go-karts sometimes.

I like it too, but I want MT. Personally, it's a miniature Toyota Yaris, which is already small.

Having sat in one at an auto show I feel much more comfortable in the iQ then the yaris.

The yaris is just feels wrong to me in every way.
