this is what i hate about dealerships and the frs/brz. i understand they are limited production and they want to keep the miles down, but how do you expect to sell them if you wont let people test drive them.

i wish you lived closer b/c anyone that wants to drive the frs i let them drive my car. its crazy you say a gas station b/c just the other day a guy approached me when i was pumping gas talking about how cool it is and how he wants one but there isnt a dealership in the area has one and hes been wanting to test drive one. i asked if he could drive a stick (no pun) and off we were.

idk why more people dont do this.

I always let people sit in the car. Im just scarred that they might burn my clutch if they drive it >< I only let people drive my car if i can driver theirs

Dude you could have gotten kidnapped or worse. Why would anybody let some other stranger drive their FR-S\BRZ? I could see if they were a friend. Even a girl can rip you off. These are hot cars, and people want them badly. You have to watch your back.

If you had a new Ferrari 458 italia, would you let a random person you met at a gas station drive your car?

Typically happens when someone puts a deposit on the car, but they haven't confirmed the sale yet. If they confirmed the sale they would have told you.

Be prepared for a short little blonde girl tapping on your window to ask for a quick ride...I'll buy you a sandwich in return. Or even a coffee, if you'd like.

Anyone in this same boat? I feel like most people on this site already own a FR-S. Don't mind my random rant. I just want to drive it already, without dealing with salesmen and contracts! Sick of them calling me (the dealership wants me to commit to buy the car BEFORE I test drive it...LOFL. Figure that one out.

I had a similar issue with the BRZ. I went to a local subbie with a friend who was looking to trade in his accord for a BRZ. First they let us sit in it, no key so couldn't try out the headunit or anything else. He said we'll have to appraise your car first before you can test drive the car so we did that and 30 minutes late the guy came to us with a credit report saying we cant drive the car until the report is ran. I called bullshit no one will run a hard hit on their credit just to TEST DRIVE a car and walked out of there. Didn't shake the guys hand or anything. Filed a complaint with the dealership and Subaru, and both companies told us "well its a hot car."

BTW I don't own a FRS, but I have a deposit on a manual White FRS now. Subaru lost out on a sale and possible life customer. Toyota FTW...

PS: I've driven two FRS so far at the dealership, one black auto and the other a white manual. both were great.

PPS: Unless it were a meet, remember: safety first.

between the grabby clutch, torquey engine, and low gears in 1st and 2nd im not too worried about it.

if they rob me......they rob me. thats what insurance is for. this is not an avenador or zenvo or a bugatti or a V12 vanquish. its a 28 thousand dollar car.

the news and the gov has instealed fear in all of us. we hear about all these horror stories and everyone automatically thinks "its going to happen to me so i cant trust anyone." thats bullshit. there are way more good people then bad people out there.

girly, I feel ya...I put a deposit down and never saw/drove one. I didn't see one til the day before I got mine and it could have been a mirage after the months of waiting.(but my husband had spotted a few)

If you came down this way I would let ya drive mine since I'm not a creepy dude, lol

you should not have to put down a deposit to test drive tell them to gtfo! I asked my hubby to go check one out while I was at work and he came back telling me that all "WE" had to do was fill out some form and we could drive one, that form was a credit app and that was NOT GONNA HAPPEN! I sold cars in my 20's and that tells me that dealer is shady.
This car is less than 30k, it's not a vette so they should not have to do any of the above. Keep looking and you will find a place that treats you right and that's who should get your money.

It scared me to buy a car I never drove. I got to drive it to put gas in it before I signed and it was worth the wait. You'll love it but I feel ya. GL to ya
