yeah... though I'm not sure about what that catalytic converter placement says about the performance of the exhaust. I assume that would be just for the base Impreza and any performance variants will have it moved farther down stream to compensate for better headers.

The old EJ20 is over-square... And we still don't know bore and stroke so it could be a square or under-square engine for all we know. My bets still lie on over-square.

And no. I remember my first post I said "neither". Turns out I was partially right; neither happened, and I'm quite stoked about that. I was getting worried for a while...

So I guess we don't really know anything more about the possible design of the engine.

Bingo. But like I said, my money is on over-squared.

We know that if how they described the motor is true, as being completely reworked by Toyota and Yamaha and based on the performance-proven EJ instead of the economy-minded FB, it's going to make me very happy.

Yup.

It was great to hear that Yamaha is "officially" part of the design process. We kept hearing rumors, but it is great to hear that it is somewhat official.

Yes! So much yes!

The differences between the 'F' basic Toyota engine and 'G' Toyota + Yamaha engines: Last gen 2.0L 3SFE in the RAV4 was about 140 hp. Last gen 2.0L 3SGE in the Altezza was a touch over 200 hp.

A decade ago!

I'm kinda confused by the comment about the USA getting the better exhaust system. Since when did we get better things than the rest of the world?

We still don't know anything about the engine specs besides displacement. The mounts being the same isn't new or special, as far as I know all Subaru cars have the same engine mounts. The transmissions can even swap from different EJs from foreign to domestic cars. The biggest change was a switch to hydraulic clutches on everything back in the 90's.

So we're still waiting for everything...:\

Yeah I was puzzled here too... but I'm willing to bet it will be a TRD upgrade, in which case I imagine there will be better, lighter aftermarket options.

Moto gives the impression as though raspier the better. We are more than likely going to see dual cats b/c of emissions but maybe he's talking about a more "aftermarket looking" oem exhaust; less packing, a smaller resonator and rolled exhaust tips perhaps. Maybe he meant a deeper sound kind of like how the Z or G37's sound.
