I think very few elements of the One-77 look like the 86/BRZ... But as others have mentioned there's a lot of similarities with the V8 Vantages, which is a good thing!
It's clear that Toyota have taken a design cue from Aston with how the 86 looks, which is why I like the 86 so much! Also, it took a completely different direction to every other compact/cheap spots car at the moment by avoiding the "hot hatch" phase the industry is currently going through, and also not "over-styling" the car like Hyundai, Citroen, and Renault all do. It's this subtlety in the 86/BRZ which I think is what's made it so popular, and hopefully a long lasting design that isn't going to look out-dated in 5 years. Although in fairness, I think this design approach was also taken in with cars such as the Supra, which imo are still a sexy as fuck car compared to most of what's released today. |
