Red Bull footed the bill and did the logistics, but NASA is reaping benefits from all the data and were part of that from what I understand. Privitazation is the only way this would have got done, taxpayers would flip out if NASA payed for this. Lol.

No, I absolutely agree.

Can you imagine where we would be if they gave Burt Rutan the budget from just one space shuttle flight? We'd probably have warp drive by now!

I was glued to the screen when this was on, it's just amazing how beautiful the world is when you're so high up. I was really surprised to hear that the previous record was set in 1960, what the hell kind of tech did they have back then?

It was basically the exact same tech. One big balloon and one guy with a really big pair....
