I know the 86 is new and all, but for less than the HKS systems etc, your getting turbo back systems which especially on the later model wrx's have more mufflers etc.

wrx has been a well established model for how many years with the latest shape having been out for quite some time.

you're paying for the fact that there arent heaps of options available yet and the fact that the car is new.

give it 3 years and im sure everything will be much cheaper.

I understand that, but why companies push to sell expensive systems on a newly marketed part is just odd. Would you not want to get your product out onto as many cars as possible ?? Maybe not

There are though, ALOT of exhaust options around (just not in aus). But also, at the end of the day, it comes down to components and bends etc on the full cost of a system, so when you see a system that has 1 muffler, 1 resonator 3 flanges and 2 tips, being much more expensive than a system such as a new wrx system.... it makes it hard to justify the purchase (for me)....but heres the clincher....these systems produce almost NO power gains!!.....its just for sound

I was quoted $1550 fitted for a Blitz NUR Spec C-Ti. A VERY nice bit of kit..but for something that produces 5hp at best.....thats $310 per HP... WTF
Thats ALOT of coin for sound....

it is stupid that all of the aftermarket parts so far released on this car seems to be extremely overpriced given that a large part of the overall theme of the car is fun on a relative budget.

You want an affordable option... contact any local exhaust shop and they will be able to rig you up something for half that.

Was the same situation for my VX SS, VE SS and a number of other cars I have owned, so don't confuse me for someone who is nieve about gains
The fact is, this system is very well flowing from stock, it's the headers that are restrictive (primarily due to the cats). But big dollar systems for what they are is pretty harsh.

I guess to go against my whinge tho, something like the HKS Hi-Power muffler system is a decent gain, not in HP but in that it weighs almost half the stock system.

Are you going to get the TRD rear panel or cut yours?

Actually I don't think the headers are bad either. My catless race header makes 6rwhp. I'd expect more from a header back system.

Interesting... Considering the flex parts and giant cat.
Do you plan on fitting / designing a header back system?

Seems to be the best option really.
How are you finding yours after driving for a bit? Love the look of your rear tips from the previous page.

loving it!! a nice audible note when going through the rev range but drops down nice and quiet at cruising speeds.

I'll be looking forward to testing out how they go on a longer trip at freeway speeds to confirm there's no drone.

I'll probably keep the rest stock until I put a full header back race system on.
In the mean time I'll just keep using my track pipe when I want to turn up the volume.

I'm considering a side exit exhaust
