I work closely with Jeff on stuff as a ginea pig, and with things like getting my logs to him, and he tells me if I have sent to much data and he needs to sift thru it, but the time availability and interest level between Visconti and Perrin- it cant be compared on the same level at all. Not at all.
FYI Visconti does do this. I have sent him logs and had them requested as well after updates. He looks at key data when new tunes go out to make sure they are both an improvement over previous tunes and safe. He keeps a close eye on knock control and afr on his tunes.

My guess is that most of these guys will be pretty close to one another as far as what they get out of the car. They aren't slackers, so if someone else improves their tune, they will want to do the same. I'm just not sure that there is much more to get out of the engine without hitting the wall given how close it rides the knock threshold. Just make sure to watch your AFR and knock control yourself too! I'm sure there will be tuners out there eventually pushing the limit to try to get a few more HP. I would personally trust either Visconti or Perrin. Visonti's just happens to be available already, he has more experience to this point, and has seen more logs. Perrin is reputable and will keep engines safe too though I'd imagine.

I do find it interesting that it has taken so long for Perrin to release their tune. My guess is, and this is total speculation, that they are selling a fair amount of bolt-ons and having the same problem as Visconti in finding power from them on top of the tune. I'm sure there's more money in exhaust / intake than in tunes. I hope it comes to market soon though for a little more competition (and to relieve some pressure from Visconti).

I just want to use my Tactrix cable! lol

I haven't really seen it spelled out here, but is Perrin also tuning with EcuTek? What people are saying sort of implies that, but I just want to confirm. I didn't see any info about it on their website.

Oh and I saw people were mentioning Cobb earlier in the thread. I talked to one of their guys at Subiefest and they confirmed that they have no plans to support the NA car as far as tuning (and I think the only parts they have for sale are cross-compatible). He did say that if/when Subaru releases a FI motor, they'll start making tunes for that.

Idk, I had their headerback system (minus the overpipe) for a couple weeks before getting the tune and it felt like the tune compilmented the exhaust very nicely adding much more power throughout the powerband.

I trust Perrin's dynos so can't wait to see them. A tune should add power on top of exhaust, the question is whether their exhaust adds power on top of the tune. Can't wait for results. I've been holding off on exhaust while waiting for the dust to settle. Hope there's power there. I have the cable and license so would have no problem paying Perrin for a tune if they are pulling it off.

For what it's worth, I made 6 more whp with a tune over JUST exhaust. So I think there is cumulative power to be had.

Wish I had it in me to go full header back but want to hold onto some form of warranty until (or if) I go FI--or at least get through the first year without any drivetrain issues. Prob looking at catback only. Your numbers are pretty impressive though, esp on E85. Guessing Perrin will run a fairly comprehensive set of dynos when their tune comes out that will be pretty insightful.

I still have the primary cat. I don't think a headerback would void much warranty....

Honestly now that the exhaust is broken in, it's perfect for me. Car sounds mean.

I love my Perrin tune. It was the first Mod I did on the car and I was instantly able to tell. The car sounded way different, had more noticeable power and became more fun to drive. For the money it was definitely worth it. I don't know which version I'm on but with free updates when Jeff changes it I feel it was worth it. Also I love what Jeff did with the DBW throttle response. I'm really looking forward to their Intake + tune. I'm hoping they can make some good power with it.

There's a few people in this thread guilty of that. ;-)
