I've seen quite a few privateers at HPDE and NASA events. You don't "make" a car into sports car just fyi...You can make it into a race car though.

Groupings and labels are meant to be broken. There is a performance enthusiast out there for nearly every car that has a performance aftermarket.

tc drivers or othewise, you shouldnt be letting other people dictate your stance on something. i think its important to note that in the specrum of cars, these are more similar than different. i mean the frs isnt so much more hardcore that it could do without backseats or a conventional auto transmission. to more people than not, the cars are comparable. if you want to embrace the slow thing, why does tc association offend you?

Nothing against the tc or tc owners. The tc is a decent sporty commuter with a decent interior and attractive exterior. But, I don't think it compares in anyway to the frs/brz, and they are not in the same segment. I haven't heard of any frs/brz owners that have mentioned looking at tc's while shopping for their car. Personally I was looking at the s2000, 350z, and v6 Mustang with track pack. I also have seen no magazine comparison featuring the tc and frs.

Who would be looking for a true drivers car and buy a TC? Do you honestly think people cross shop these cars?

I went from a RSX type-S (civic Si pretty much) to a S2000 and now onto a FR-S.

I would never consider a TC and neither would most real car enthusiasts. I know plenty of true car guys who have owned a Si or type-S and NONE would even think about a TC, sorry bro.

thats not what i said. i think that people who are looking a sporty two door that can handle daily driving will cross shop the cars. if "true drivers cars" were so important i dont think the market would have let the elise go extinct. whether you want like it or not, the cars are comparable.

but your opinion =/= enthusiast standard
besides, everyone can make up stories on the internet. I can say I'm a top graduate of Navy Seals Academy with 300 confirmed kills and that I own a JDM supra right hand drive because the president let me.

I just couldn't see that. The first thing this fictional consumer would see is a base frs is $5500 more than a tc. Then they would realize the frs doesn't have a sunroof or very functional back seat. The kind of person that would consider a tc would place no value on things like steering feel, turn in, and balance. I just couldn't see this kind of person choosing a frs. They would go with the cheaper car with more standard features.

Are you implying that I have not owned those cars? Please say yes.

you dont have to see it. this thread kinda turned into a thread about how stupid tc owners try to make it look like their cars are sports cars. if a significant amount of tc owners "tune" their cars, i think its safe to say that they are looking at the frs too. cars get compared because they are different. if they were the same, there would be 0 frs sales because of the prices you mentioned. you have to compare a car to evaluate how they stack up to your values.

i think its easy to get confused as much of the voice you hear come from this forum. it is in no way representative of the public.
