Thanks for the review.

Hrmmm...I'm also very close to pulling the trigger on the catback and I wanted to go with the resonated version to keep it quieter, especially if I do full exhaust at some point. But I'm a bit discouraged with the rattling issue. I'm glad you were able to fix this with some hammering etc., but I feel like we really SHOULDN'T have to do that.

I assume the nonresonated version wouldn't have this issue?? I could always go that route, but I'd prefer the quieter exhaust, I think.

------

Oh, and it seems like a lot of people aren't getting all the required gaskets included. Would you mind listing all of the parts that are supposed to be included in the kit, so we can easily tell if something has been left out?

I haven't seen the non-resonated pipe. However given that I increased the clearance from 3 to 7mm, then a non-resonated pipe should clear no problem.

Yes it seems like a hit or miss on the gaskets. However, Perrin will do everything in its power to make it right, given that the user does planning ahead of time. I heard good things about them before I decided to buy their products; they are only building their legacy in my eyes.

I'll see about making a parts list. I did not use all the hardware provided. Perrin packages hardware as if you bought and installed each piece separately. For example, when you buy the package, you'll have two sets of bolts, washers, lock washers, etc to connect the overpipe to the front pipe.

Ah OK...well maybe a parts list of just what you'll need to install each section, starting from the back.

Here is what I can recollect during our install for a parts list

Quote:
Update: Here is a parts list for those who are concerned. Perrin includes hardware as if you are installing each piece individually. There will be some leftover. Here is everything I used in my install

Header to Overpipe
1 Subaru Crush Gasket part 44011AG000
2 14mm nuts (reuse OEM hardware)

Overpipe to Front Pipe
1 Graphite Gasket
2 brass bolts (9/16 wrench)
2 brass washers (flanges were too thick/bolts too short to do 4 washers)
2 brass lock washers
2 brass nuts

Front Pipe to Resonator
1 Graphite Gasket
2 brass bolts (9/16 wrench)
4 brass washers
2 brass lock washers
2 brass nuts

Resonator to Aft Pipe
1 V-band clamp

Aft Pipe to muffler
1 Exhaust Hanger (reuse OEM hanger)
1 V-band clamp

Muffer
4 Exhaust Hanger (reuse OEM hanger)

I can only imagine how hard it is on jack stands. While possible, it would not be fun breaking loose the oem nuts that hold the exhaust in place.
Certainly not fun using jackstands, though quite possible to do alone. After figuring out WD-40 made removing the exhaust hangers into an easy task, I used it once or twice in some of the more rusted areas. No sheering for me, luckily .

This system is crazy. Power, power everywhere. I know I'll get used to it; I wish the feeling never goes away.

Quote:
Had the exhaust on for 3 days now with 400 miles. I think I can quantify the power gain. Prior the car felt like it had to work to make its way up the powerband. Due to this, I short shifted < 3K RPM in my daily driving. Not sure if this is the honeymoon phase, or true extra power, but in the same time between shifts, I'm now hitting my rev indicator (4100RPM). I often say to myself, "I never hear this shift light!" Second gear also pulls much harder; using the same gas pedal force in a 1->2 shift, my car surges forward with power akin to a predator hunting its prey. I need to be more careful before I rear end someone.

I love this whole set up as well. I have the OP FP with no cat and resonated catback. Sounds and feels great. I had the same issue with the rattling or clunking issue. What me and my friend ended up doing was loosening everything a bit and then wedging a fat unused wallet about 2 in thick between the chassis and resonated pipe. Tighten everything up then yanked out the wallet. Seems like that flexed it a bit and I'm not having any more rattling ATM. Hopefully it stays that way big not, ill have to request the non resonated pipe from Jeff. hope this helps if you don't want to hammer your car.

Sorry to not post in here earlier. Everyone remember that the OPs install isn't normal. It is not a requirement to dent the car to get our exhaust. It is meant to be a simple bolt on install. If anyone has similar issues, try loostening the bolts in the exhaust, and repositioning it to give more clearance.

If anyone has any questions, let me know.

Its been asked a LOT of times before but no one from Perrin has answered yet... What is the reason the header is not being released? Didn't produce the expected power numbers, the CEL was no table to be turned off via tune?

What happened? We are all curious about it.

I had the same vibration issues with the resonated catback as well. I took it to a muffler shop and they tried to re-position it by loosening the bolts and moving it around but the noises came right back.

I wasn't about to deal with the hassle of removing it from the car and sending it back so I ended up having them make me a custom piece and discarded the resonator tube. It was rubbing in two places.

I thought maybe I had an incorrectly manufactured piece but I see the problem is more widespread
