I had a guy in the Subaru dealership tell me back in July adamantly that the car has been released for at least a year (so he was saying it was out about August 2011), when I told him it wasn't and that it was released back around March 2012. Yet despite my insistence he was still saying "no.... I'm pretty sure it's been out for a year."

The brake difference between the Toy and the Sub is the pad compound. More aggressive on the Toyota/Scion.

That's pretty consistant with what's on the website showing 13+ months.

It was good to see the prem spec interior, just a shame about the sales lady.

10:1 was the number i heard but, as stated the salesmen was probably quoting plant wide which its being built alongside the impreza so, plant wide, more subies would be being built

Sales figures are published for each market. If you want to know the numbers, you can go and add them all up and you will have production ratios. It's not that I don't trust a salesman, but rather I don't trust anybody.
