The tC is not a real performance car or sports car, just a sporty coupe. It attracts a lot of what I like to call "pretenders", or "would-be" car people. I'm sure I'll get flak for saying this, but it's true. I've been to a lot of Toyota/Scion meets and talked to a lot of people who own them. Not saying they're bad people, either. Just not real performance car enthusiasts. My stepbrother is one of those people. Always goes for a "sporty" car rather than a "sports" car.

Before anyone tries it, yes I've seen Chris Rado's cars, and they are about as close to the production car as a NASCAR Camry is to the production model, so please don't waste your breath.
i bought a tc b/c it was cheap and felt like you were getting more for your buck than a corolla...I didn't think it was "all that" and yeah, it wasn't ugly but I'll be damned if I wasn't ready to trade that fucker in the min I saw the frs/brz was hitting the states!

That's about what the tC was for me as well. An inexpensive daily driver that was kinda sporty. I really wanted to replace my MX-3 with a similar sort of tiny little coupe but there was literally nothing like it on the market at the time.

The FR-S was really what I wanted back then, and I rectified my mistake the second the FR-S was available to the general public...

Don't get me wrong, the tC is still a great deal for what it is and it's not a bad car. I still like it, it's just not what I wanted.

Dude, I get the same thing. Honestly, the only TC owners that have been friendly have been the females...which i'm not complaining about.

I generally get the look away, or cold shoulder, whatever you wanna call it. I look over and they just look away. I don't understand it, but I am the complete opposite. I like to let people know I am checking their car out.

From a tC1 driver, I love the FR-S/BRZ and plan on getting one. They turn my head everytime I see one. I know I'd lose in a race and I know I drive a car where 70% of drivers are girls, but damn if it hasn't been good to me and been my mini SUV with all the storage space of it. I can definitely attest to FTC~BRZ's comment about getting more for the money. I'd argue about there being a better car in its segment if you're looking for the whole package in one. That said, nothing but love for the twins!

Werd! My husband just finished paying off his 05 tc and he's all butt hurt I got a kick ass Subaru. Now he wants an sti. I bought the brz in hopes to share it and keep that new car itch he's got under control but as soon as he saw it he knew it was "mine".
Try to take any frs/brz owners keys from them and see what happens?!
If I wasn't a victim of the cel issue I would have let him drive it more than once. But he's right it is my baby.
As for the bitter tc peeps, just smile we have something special and they have the same thing everyone else has.
It was well worth the wait.

Hubby has tc1 (limited) and it had less issues than my 08. I still love his tc he's over it.

When I got my tC back in 2006, I used to get a lot of honks, waves and thumbs up from xA's, xB's and tC's. Now, it's a different story

The only "negative" experiences I had were with a 370z and 350z, and it was more them trying to show off/get me to race. It was just a random thing. I know 2 people who have had a 350z and they both love my my car. I get positive reactions all the time from all sorts of people and vehicle owners (acura, mercedes, bmw, honda,.....)

I always thought of it as a "jack of all trades." It had a lot of stuff, but wasn't good at any one thing. Got mine up to 170whp, prepped it for autocross, had fun with it. Sold it within a week of putting it for sale, haha. My thought process for my next car was:
lexus is2500 > is350, wait no thats only auto > is250.....no, is300 > evo X > is300 > evo X > frs! ......frs.

I kinda do miss the tc a little bit..... but it's only a little. The br86zsf is just everything i wanted in a car: rwd, can take a turn, lightweight (decently so), good gas mileage, enough space for me & a friend as well as some luggage. Yes, I had to adapt to the size difference, but it's definitely liveable. I was happy with the tc for a bit, but i got bored quickly with it. This car gets me smiling every day.

Sales people don't care what's good for you they just want to sell whatever's available at their lot
