This comment needs more LolCats. Allow me...
![]() Also, I agree that rendering does look quite good. Let's compare it to the Best Car rendering from a few weeks back... ![]() and... ![]() The R&T rendering definitely looks more aggressive with the body kit, blacked out chin spoiler, and sharper hood creases. Also, did anyone notice the Porsche seats in the R&T rendering? If only... |

I hate Scion. That is well documented here. But I've never accused them or even heard of them being shitty quality. They're Toyotas and the tC AFAIK is still made in Japan. For me the issue has been the image, buying and owning experience. As well as how Scion has been promoting performance that is nowhere near what they offer from the factory. Marketing vs engineering. Also, for the turbo hopefuls, the Subaru version is due around the same time as the Scion/Toyota (SOA Blog is saying Spring next year, other sources say Summer, so figure late May early June?) but the WRX/STI are coming later. The turbo will be introduced with the WRX/STI. No way it's going to be in the FT86 at launch, especially considering how much NA promotion is out there. Whether it gets a turbo later will depend on the hp difference between the WRX and the STI, as well as RWD transmission strength. What they would probably like is that the base NA FT86 is cheaper and a touch slower than the WRX. Then as an FT86 STI, with the WRX engine, it should be faster and a bit more expensive than the WRX, but not as fast or expensive as the WRX STI. Even though they COULD realistically put in a full-blown STI 300+ hp motor for less money than the WRX STI, and have it be lighter, faster and handle better, doesn't mean they WILL because of product-placement/marketing politics. Save up some $ and look into a future engine swap.

2500 lbs? I thought it would weigh 2000 lbs!
JK If this car will weigh more than 1200 kg (DIN), have less than 200 PS and have redline at only 7.000 RPM, you can be sure I am not getting this car. I hope it will be ALOT better than that, even if it cost 35.000 €. |

For a second I thought you could just replace it with a CF Until I saw how far that line extended. LOL

If the car looks like that then it's a winner in the looks dept. but I fear it will look like a lesser attractive version of that render.

I imagine the hoodline might have something to do with radiator placement. Since the latch tends to be mounted on the upper radiator support, trying to reach up over 6 inches through a small crack when you pop the hood may not work out so well for a lot of people.
It could also have something to do with ease of repair after an accident. I don't really mind the length of the hood as it is in the chops, but we don't know if that's the final location of that line for the production version. Don't worry about it just yet.
